A California Drought: Not Enough Children
The Wall Street Journal ^ | January 8th, 2013 | MIRIAM JORDAN

Posted on 01/09/2013 6:47:15 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

Declining migration and falling birthrates have led to a drop in the number of children in California just as baby boomers reach retirement, creating an economic and demographic challenge for the nation's most populous state.

"After decades of burgeoning population and economic growth…the state now faces a very different prospect," said a report released Tuesday by the University of Southern California and the Lucile Packard Foundation. The report, "California's Diminishing Resource: Children," analyzed data from the 2010 census and the American Community Survey to conclude that the trend marks a "historic transition" for the state.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the people fleeing the state for economic and political reasons.

"Unless the birthrate picks up, we are going to need more immigrants."

Wasn't hard to guess where the WSJ would go with this story.

Of course they would further recommend more of the low skill immigrant, the kind you don't have to pay much.

The kind currently bleeding the state white, by the way.

Which, incidentally, is why most productive CA couples (the kind not receiving public assistance) can only afford to have two or fewer kids.

Falling birth rates are a drop in the bucket compared to the IDIOTIC laws and massive tax increases the State have put in place. They destroyed all industry, farming, mining and logging so worker and business flight have STRIPPED the tax base. But since California is one of the top welfare payment states, the Non-working class have stayed allong with the illegal immigrants.

Classic Liberal findings, blind to their foolishness, they point fingers everywhere but themselves.

It is not declining migration, it is increasing Business, worker and wealthy retirees migrating out of the state that is gutting it.

And what share of that decline is from the 1.5 million abortions nationwide? Isn't that factored into it? If not, why not?

How can we dismiss the incredible amount of national slaughtered unborn and newly born babies that easily? Disgusting!

California has not complied with CDC requests for abortion data in many years, and since California accounts for more abortions than any other state in the U.S, the figure is unknown.

Places like CA, NY, and IL have a lot of illegal aliens. They don't seem to help.

then the kids are exposed to the radical anal feces sex freaks and then taught how to do it and then they wonder why more and more have had enough.

All conservatives get out of your socialist dumps and move to a republican or swing state amnd help to make those states solid republican and stop giving money to the socialist agenda or having kids expsed to perverts

There economic and demographic challenge is that there running out of TAX PAYERS, not TAX CONSUMERS...

Hint: Bringing in more TAX CONSUMERS is not going to solve the problem...

Immigrants of the 'illegal' persuasion are a present drain on the system. Are they really wanting more?

Kalifornia does not expect young people to have children, unless they are “anchor babies”.

Why should they expect people to try and have families when it takes 2 just to try and pay the rent, food and other expenses.

What? Can’t the homo’s & lesbians procreate and have children? I don’t understand it. They wanted to marry after all! Maybe they need more homo’s & lesbians in order to procreate. Surely it doesn’t require a man and a woman, does it?

So Manc, tell us, where does your head hit the pillow? You seem to “know” so much about California (and all those “socialist crap holes”), have you ever lived here? The idea that you can “move away from” the problems facing this country demonstrates why we are where we are today. Sure, you may save your own ass, but what about the future generations throughout our country? Thank the Lord people like you were in the minority when this country was forming. Just a thought, enjoy your doublewide!

My nephew’s wife is a public school teacher in CA. Her school might close because the kids just disappeared. Of course, it doesn’t help that a Classical Christian school opened in town either, and the fact that there are other private schools in the area.

Not enough children

This is not a new trend. Demographers documented that families with children were fleeing big liberal cities by the millions back in the 1990s. Seattle has more dogs than children. Big cities are not family friendly for various reasons.

The biggest growth areas for families with children has been in the south and exurbia.

insults hey, hit a neerve did I.

Well lets see, you want to live in CA a liberal cess pit, pay those taxes to a liberla agenda, have your vote just prop up the electoral count but never get anywhere with your vote, that is if your vote is counted with all your illegals, you lile all the laws the socialists put onto you and you want to stay there and tell me I;m a minority and I should go back to a double wide.

Ha I live in FL, I have served and seen pals die, I have moved my wife form a liberal cess pit, I walked the talk and I like freedom , like giving my vote to what counts, like the lesser laws here, I have kids who will grow up in a better state.

Everyone knows CA is nice to look at but infested with illegals, commies, socialists, and lunatics as well as turd poking fanatics who now teach that crap in the schools

Yes you live there and try to dfend it, why are you staying , to defend what?

Defend a lost cause and because you cannot face facts

You prove the point that one can never have a reasoned conversation with an under educated fool! Also, from what I read daily on FR, Florida is no “garden spot of conservatism.” The daily murders, break in’s, and other property and person crimes that are chronicled here lead one to understand that Florida, like all states, has serious problems with lawlessness, illegal immigration, etc. All the things you equate with the “poor quality of life” here in California. BTW what is a “neerve?” And what is “iiberla agenda?” Your third grade education is showing!

and yet my neighbor from CA has just read your posts and said it proves how stupid many elitist folks are from there and thank God they all left.

BTW, We have many CA famlies who have moved out here, to GA, SC and all have said CA is a cess pit.

You keep wanting to be something you are not and you keep lying to yourself how great the Kalifronia state is and you can ignore how many laws, how many radical homosexual activists live there, you can ignore your tax money, or how dumb your schools are beomcing because they would rather focus on turd poking classes [that;s if you ever work or have worked and not married to someone who is] and you can ignore all your debt, all your crime, all your liberalism, all your illegals, all your deline in babies being born and you can live in your little la la land , out of coincidence you don;t live in Orange county and appear in a show as well do you? LOL.

I’ll go off what I see, the laws you have, the people you vote in which is all run by Dems BTW, I;ll go off what others have said about CA who have left that dump .
Off here or met in person or who live as neighbors, all have said it;s a socialist dump.

Here is a message from a CA person.
“hopefully you can stay back in Kalifornia and stay in that hole”

"They figured it out. Feminists, Gays and transsexuals do not procreate. hee hee hee... Add huge numbers of abortions and you have the exact prescription for extinction. And collapse.

California was also one of the first states to permit the sale of Plan B over-the-counter without an age limit. Plan B, the so-called "morning-after pill," is another big factor contributing to the increase in sexually transmitted infections. STIs soared in the British Isles when Plan B was made available without prescription in 2000.

California public healh officials knew this, and did it anyway.

Here's what we're looking at, people:

"I'm 13 and I have untreatable gonorrhea" debuts on MTV.

Along with the increase in sexually transmitted infections, there has also been a striking increase in the suicide rates among young people. UCLA psychiatrist Dr. Miriam Grossman has argued that promiscuity is the root cause of much depression. She believes the promiscuity-depression-suicide link is being ignored by doctors who fail to caution students about the dangers of the "hook-up" culture.

In a context of soaring rates of cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea (and cephalosporin was the last line of defense), I suppose suicide looks, not like a problem, but like a solution. No more disease-transmission. No more disease! No more adolescents. No more childbirth! Voilà!
