Chicago’s illustrious Police Chief, Superintendent or SuperNintendo (whichever you wish to call him) got on a local radio station in Chicago and told it like he perceives it. He said that citizens licensed to carry could be, and indeed predicted they would be shot by Chicago Police Officers.

Why not, they shoot the unarmed, fellow officers and sometimes themselves.
I remember William Buckley saying something to the affect that police should be disarmed as they have demonstrated an inability to use them properly.
This is also interesting in the light of all the grief that Gen Mattis, USMC caught when he said it was a hoot to kill bad guys.
For him simply to have said that is awfully close to a crime.

Pretty much proves what we at FR have known for a long time.. The police motto "to protect and serve" refers to our GOVERNMENT, not we citizens. It wasn't that way when I was a kid.

Shooting law abiding citizens is much easier than perusing and shooting criminals. The mayor begs gang bangers to just kill each other, not children. Now his police chief attacks peaceful citizens. This is a mental and moral depravity that is beyond belief. Yet it is completely in character for liberals.
It’s OK. He’s telling us the rules of engagement. In Illinois, whether you’re a criminal or an innocent civilian, you’re going to be better off shooting first and asking questions later. He’s actually endangering his own people. Irresponsible. Criminally irresponsible.

Police chiefs in big cities are essentially political appointees and cophouse politicians themselves. Rank and file officers usually ignore them and consider them dangerous because they never really have their backs.
He claims licensed civilians aren't trained well enough. Have you ever seen a news report about police shootouts where they tell you how many shots were fired...like 30 rounds expended for two hits?
We already know of a Georgia stay-at-home mom who hit an intruder with five out of six shots from a .38 revolver,I don't think many cops could match that.
Also my 73 year old eyes get a workout at the range at least once a month with my 1911,.357/.38 Special snubbie and a Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt...although it is getting a little expensive...I'm considering re-loading.
My best groups are with my snubbie...a 2 1`/2 inch total titanium Taurus...3 inch groups at 25 yards...not too bad for an old fart like me!

I’ve tried to warn people over the many years that the cops will be easily turned into a Bolshevik militia with the principle mission of terrorizing the ordinary person into obedience.
Even today, you are more likely see cops focused on “law-abiding” people than criminals —largely because the law-abiding don’t shoot back.

when I was a municipal police officer back in the 50’s, we were referred to as “peace officers” and keeping the peace was our job with six shooter revolvers and billy clubs. We had few problems.

I’m an LE Officer/former Marine, and I say this bonehead should be fired immediately. Fellow freepers broad brushing LE officers as if we are in agreement with the current assault on our common rights need to check yourselves. We are not the enemy... The political class is, and police chiefs are entirely political.

I imagine there are very few law-abiding citizens who, at this point, fear the cops. And many cops are still “in it” for all the right reasons.
But the upper echelons of big city/blue state police forces are easily co-opted by big labor and big political interests, which we all know are increasingly veering in a direction that could make the USA a Police State in due time.
I was on the premises during the years that the Left finished off the co-option of the Lamestream Media (1980s and 1990s), and the fact is the PDs will fall into lock-step with the governing orthodoxy even easier than the media did.
THIS is why we don’t give up our guns to an oppressive, tyrannical govt in the making.
