NBCs David Gregory is off the hook for showing a high-capacity gun magazine on Meet the Press and will not be prosecuted, D.C.s attorney general announced on Friday.
D.C. attorney general Irvin Nathan on Friday said he would decline to prosecute in the case involving the Sunday show host and any NBC staffers. In a letter to NBCs attorney Lee Levine, Nathan wrote that after reviewing the matter, his office has determined to exercise its prosecutorial discretion to decline to bring criminal charges against Mr. Gregory, who has no criminal record, or any other NBC employee based on the events associated with the broadcast.

Well color ME surprised!
The next person with no criminal record prosecuted for a 30 round magazine has a nice civil rights/equal protection lawsuit waiting.
Absolutely shocking.
They also just made the case that 30 round mags are not inherently dangerous ;)
Gun control for thee, but not for me! I can hire armed guards and am above the law!
LOL at anyone who thought charges would be filed..remember, liberals are above the law they can do whatever they want
Two Americas.
Two sets of Law.
That ought to help his resume ~
Gregory smuggled the clip into DC through a 3rd party. See the note from the DC AG:

The essence of a dictatorship or ruling oligarchy reigning under color of law: The law applies when and how they decide. All citizens are in violation of something and the law is used as an instrumentality of control over those they target or protect those they favor.
I think I remember reading about an ex marine traveling with with the same thing being prosecuted. He claims he didn’t even know the law. How is that fair?

do I really have to say it???
Well Pierce Morgan, is prosecutorial discretion based upon ideology a defacto tyranny?
I have using my 1st amendment rights to let people know how I feel about a multitude of subjects. I have always been law abiding. My 30 round magazines have never been used for anything except to educate those I love on the beauty of the 2nd amendment. My magazines are not illegal in my state. When the jackboots come, do I have a Gregory exemption?
using=been using
102 people were arrested in DC in 2012 for having a high capacity magazine. I’m sure the vast majority of them are black.
MILLER: If youre not David Gregory
D.C. prosecutes ordinary Americans for high-capacity magazines
The Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) inquiry into whether NBCs David Gregory broke the law by possessing a 30-round high-capacity magazine on national TV has been ongoing for three weeks. Meanwhile, U.S. Army veteran James Brinkley is still grappling with the fallout from his arrest last year on the same charge.
Mr. Brinkleys story is just one example of at least 105 individuals who, unlike Mr. Gregory, were arrested in 2012 for having a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds.

Why don’t people get angry about this?

unexpectedly ... no charges were filed
/eye-rolling-sarcasm

Reminds me of an old movie, El Patrullero, about the corruption in the Mexican highway patrol.
The following clip (1:32) is in Spanish (sorry, I couldn’t find it with Enlgish subtitles). Basically the cadets are being questioned about the proper procedures during a traffic stop. The cadet responds that first you look for a moving violation, then for mechanical problems.....The commander then interrupts and says, “No, there is always a violation; first you arrest, then you search for the violation.”
The subject is certainly guilty, you just need to determine the extent of his guilt.
They were told not to do this and they did it anyway. They knowingly defied the police telling them it was not lawful for Gregory to do this.
You just know Obama was involved in this. Couple calls placed.
FREE DAVID GREGORY NOW! Prosecution UNJUST!
Every person who has been prosecuted/persecuted under this law should immediately file suit.
So the law is now discretionary.
I’ll ask for that leniency next time I get caught speeding.
If they don’t they deserve it. I don’t see how this could be any clearer a violation of equal protection.
I hope the libs are paying close attention. Because as with ANSWER on the other thread, Obama, follows the classic pattern of dumping useful idiots once in power. Gregory is still useful as a propagandists. ANSWER is now a hindrance to the agenda.
What RandallFlagg said.
People outside the beltway are, but inside the beltway, this is just viewed as harassment by the bitter clingers of one of their own and they are simply not subject to the same laws because they are doing good and are smarter than the serfs who don't appreciate them.
Trust me. I worked in the media for years. Most of your local reporters/media feel the exact same way. Since they interact with local/state reps and people in political/financial power, they genuinely think they are ‘one of them’.
The truth is somewhat different to their imaginations.
I'm sure the DC DA will apply the law equally to those journalists as well.
So, when I take my Right Wing Assault Television Network plastic microphone and my phone camera out in front of the NBC DC studio and start waving a 30-magazine around, they will use their discretion and tell me to carry on with my First and Second Amendment rights without interference?
Aw-right!!
Don’t really have a problem with it. However, every other accused of a similar offense should have his or her charges dismissed under the equal protection clause.
1. Their silly unconstitutional law did NOT prevent him from obtaining, possessing, and brandishing a high cap mag.
2. These types of laws are only enforced on the common people like us, not the elites.
