Aides to five-term U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg are rejecting a report by NBC tonight that the 88-year-old senator will not seek re-election in 2014.

"NBC 4's report that Senator Lautenberg has decided to retire has not been confirmed by our office or anyone in our organization. The Senator has not made a decision on his re-election." said Lautenberg spokesman Caley Gray, adding the report "is simply not true."

The report came from veteran local NBC reporter Brian Thompson who cited un-named sources.

Wasn't he the one who snuck back into the Senate when the New Jersey Sup Ct re-wrote their election laws on the fly so the Democrats could replace a dead candidate with a live one long after the time to file for office had passed?

Hard to tell.

This antigun, corrupt bastard can rot in hell. I, for one, will rejoice in his demise. There is a tradition of being respectful on Obit Threads, here on Free Republic. I intend to break with that tradition for this piece of s**t, as I did when the odious Ted Kennedy died.

Lautenberg died years ago but he keeps showing up at the Capitol.

For a WW2 vet and the founder of Automated .data Processing, he turned out to be a no good SOB.

No he replaced the Torch after Torch had no other choice to drop out. But Torch was sort of a dead candidate Doug Forrester would have won.

Me too! Here’s hoping that the Lautencorpse dies in office so Christie can appoint an interim successor. He can go anytime. Maybe we can get a twofer, Chavez and the Lautencorpse.

Ted Kennedy was one of the very first direct Democrat traitors to occupy office in modern times. He actually communicated with the Soviets -- mortal enemies at the time -- to find common ground in ways to defeat and humilate President Ronald Reagan. This treasonous bastard should have never lived so long. He should have had his life shortened by a stout rope.

Ted Kennedy, burn in hell. Glad you are dead; hope it was painful.

And that is the honest truth about Ted Kennedy.

The "Lion of the Senate" was an Enemy of America.
