State Suspends Handgun Carry Permit Of Tactical Response CEO

The state of Tennessee has suspended the handgun carry permit of James Yeager, CEO of Tactical Response, who recently said he would "start killing people" should President Obama take executive action on gun control.

State officials explained they revoked the permit because of Yeager's "material likelihood of risk of harm to the public," according to a local TV station. Tactical Response is a Tennessee-based company that specializes in firearms and tactical training.

"The number one priority for our department is to ensure the public's safety," wrote Commissioner Bill Gibbons. "Mr. Yeager's comments were irresponsible, dangerous, and deserved our immediate attention. Due to our concern, as well as that of law enforcement, his handgun permit was suspended immediately. We have notified Mr. Yeager about the suspension today via e-mail. He will receive an official notification of his suspension through the mail."

Second that. If you are EVER considering the submission of commentary, written or video/audio, into the public domain on a subject which has raised your ire, it is IMPERITIVE that you compose it, and set it aside for a bit and come back and read it.

9 times out of 10 you will edit it down. Once in a while you will say “holy crap! I’m glad I held off on that!”

Everything inflammatory you send out into public space, especially the internet, will always be there to be dredged up in the future to impune subsequent eloquence in rhetoric.

Yes that is it. I just tried to sugar coat it a little.

No mention of a protection order here.

So... Tell us why you approve of a man being denied his Right to bear arms absent actual charges and a trial?

Free speech does not include the right to make overt threats of physical harm to others.

I think you're confused. Free speech most certainly does include the right to say I'm going to kill you - unless you're the President. It's when I act on it that I have broken the law. Please don't further the liberal BS by saying that words are not protected by the first amendment. While I understand the reasoning behind the whole crowded theater thing, I don't agree with it. Then again, I think we should go back to the days when the village idiot would get pummeled by the village men for yelling "fire" in the theater when there was none.

I’d not want to take odds on the success of that, those only go as wins for the subje... er, citizens, when the citizens want to piss on Christ or have public “fluid” exchanges...

"said he would "start killing people" should President Obama take executive action on gun control."

They took his permit away which means 0bama WILL take EXECUTIVE ACTION on the 2nd Amendment without Consent of Congress.

Cheering on illegal action by the State is just f*cking retarded.

I am the last person that will ever "cheer on" anything the State does. My animus toward "The State" is barely bridled. But it is bridled, for good reason. There are lines that cannot be crossed without catching hell for it. He crossed that line by publicly issuing a video wherein he made threats against the physical safety of others.

If Tennessee law requires charges be brought to rescind a CCP, then he has a case and can fight back. I don't know. I am not a lawyer in TN.

Nonetheless, I am not going to hold up as an example for RKBA someone whose disposition is such that they do what he did.

“Anyone can file a protection order for no good reason whatsoever.”

Ah, that’s a bit too strong there.

Free speech most certainly does include the right to say I'm going to kill you ...

True enough in one sense. If you make such a threat however, I have legal recourse to, for example, take out a restraining order against you. Further, there are specific charges, such as Menacing, Terroristic Threats, etc., that can follow such a statement. So you will not be free of the consequences of your speech.

All this aside, here is example of a sane, sober response to the our current situation which spells out where we are and a rational response to it:

And given the words said in his video, I’m sure somebody felt uncomfortable and then reported it.... and filed the complaint.

Public safety officials had no choice but to take the CCP. He stepped on his crank. Get over it.

LOL!

Did they take his defensive semi-automatic rifles, too? **snicker**

I’m not seeing the humor.

Our entire Country stands on the brink and we won’t bother rallying to the aid of one of own...

If I was them, I would not be worried about his handgun permit, I would be worried about his rifle collection and his target list.

My apologies as well. I know you and I are both better than our first few posts on this thread indicate. I think Yeager realized (too late unfortunately) that he let the heat overwhelm the light as well.

There is no issue on what we ultimately stand for, and what we will stand against.

You think he’s nuts? My question is genuine. I’m very puzzled by the fact that he’s flinched. I was not expecting this.

Not only did they take away his 2nd Ammendment rights, the also took away his 1st Ammendment rights. Guess we have to be very careful what we say and when/where we say it.

You have to admit, it was kinda dumb for him say what he did being he is in the business of self defense.\, etc.

“Wrong. I live in TN. They can strip your permit if someone files a protection order. Anyone can file a protection order for no good reason whatsoever”

That’s federal (ISTR) and the amendment to some bill that does that is named after Lautenberg (Cadaver, NJ).

It is an abomination; like so many laws that confiscate property without conviction for a crime.
