SARATOGA SPRINGS Law enforcement officials will join families and activists Saturday to draw attention to gun violence outside an arms show at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares and Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner Chris Mathiesen are among those expected to discuss solutions to gun violence at a "speak out" organized by MoveOn.org members. The event will cap a day of scheduled protests along Broadway.
Starting at 10 a.m. outside the city center, members of Saratogians Against Gun Violence, led by Charlie Samuels, plan to hold cut-out angels and read the names of Americans who have died from gunshot wounds in the last month. Members of the Saratoga Peace Alliance will hold a one-hour vigil starting at 1:15 p.m., while the MoveOn event begins at 2:15 p.m.
"This time and place were chosen by MoveOn organizers and allies because of the presence of the annual gun show at the City Center, to highlight what has become perhaps the No. 1 public health problem in our nation," a statement by the group says.
This weekend's NEACA Arms Fair has sparked a cultural divide in the city. Hundreds of petitioners have objected to holding the gun show after the Newtown, Conn., school killings in December, and many want the city center to stop hosting them. Hundreds of others have signed a separate petition calling on the city center to stick by the gun show. The center's board said this week the show would be held.
But those who want the show canceled haven't gone away, and recently joined ranks with top law enforcement authorities. Both Soares and Mathiesen confirmed they planned to attend Saturday's speak out.
"I asked them, and they readily agreed," organizer Susan Weber of Albany said.

The deadly and dreaded brain disease called liberalism?
I’ll be there on Sunday, will go prepared.
And the scapegoating picks up speed. We know this dance all too well.
Ask the Armenians, Jews, Russians, CHinese, Cubans, Cambodians, Rwandans, Guatemalans etc how “common sense gun control” worked out for them.
1. Registration 2. Confiscation 3. Extermination
STICK TO YOUR GUNS!
How much you wanna bet the “law enforcement officials” either carry weapons, surround themselves with people who carry weapons, or rely on people carrying weapons so they can do their job? Freedom for me and not for thee.

All too many cops are all too glad to don their uniforms and go to work against the nation's civil rights.
perhaps the No. 1 public health problem in our nation,”
They call it a public health problem, whether they know it or not, because then it falls under the “police powers” of the state or locality, whereby if there’s “legitimate state interest” in doing something your rights be damned. Police powers are broadly defined, unlike federal poses, and just what constitutes an infringement of rights is sorta up in the air, especially when we’ve lost in American civilization whatever ideological consensus we used to have, it any.
There are various longstanding duties of government, like health, safety, preventing monopoly, etc. If you don’t want the right to keep and bear arms to bring your municipality down invoke the shibboleth of “public health.” All that can stand against it is if a black person somewhere in the world (who counts, unlike, say, Clarence Thomas) doesn’t like it.
The group who wanted us to "Move On" and get over the Clinton perjuries should get over Sandy Hook and just "Move On".
These cops do not even know and are not even listening to what their own boss is telling them: they are total morons and idiots.
“State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says nearly 90 percent of the firearms used to commit crime in New York City are from out of state, and most are illegal.
Most of the guns used to commit crime in New York City are illegal weapons, brought in from other states”

I doubt that there will be protesters. I’m going, See’ya there!
Gangs via ATF.
Guess which gathering is more likely to turn violent.
Once you have MoveOn.Org involved, you have old Nazi KAPO George Soros and his marxist minions involved, you can see what they want for the future of America, total gun confiscation.
Soros went from being a young kid acting as a KAPO aiding the Nazis during the occupation and deportations of his fellow Jews in Hungary, to a supposed anti-Communist when the Russians crushed the Hungarian freedom fighters in 1956, to European money manipulator/speculator/convicted felon, to marxist billionaire.
He has staffed and funded top marxist.socialist fronts of his including the Open Society Institute, Campaign for Progress, MoveOn.Org, and Media Matters.
This might be the first MoveOn.org push into the active gun-control/confiscation effort. Need to watch out for other marxist groups like this.
Take names, take photos. We need to, as another poster says, identify the enemy.
Who wouldn’t have thought the communists at MoveOn would want to take your guns? How perfectly true to form.
We haven’t heard from these jerks in quite a while. Did they go back underground when their commie won office?
The same Law Enforcement Officers that some in here say will not come for your guns.
Don’t believe it.
The same law enforcement officers who rely on Democrat politicians for their jobs. In other contexts, when someone tells you that the Chiefs of Police are all for gun control, remind them that they only get those jobs at the pleasure of a Democrat mayor.
