“It is awful, I am a graduate of the public high school system of South Carolina, class of 62, no other formal education other than a US Navy electronics school. I have had conversations with young men who hold a degree with a MAJOR in history from our local university and found that they would have ZERO chance of passing even an EIGHTH GRADE history final from my era. They told me that they majored in history because they needed a degree “of some kind” and history was the easiest! My answer is that you have spent at least four years and a lot of money, including whatever income might have been earned in that four years, probably amassed a big student loan debt and you come out with less knowledge of your MAJOR than a thirteen year old of my generation learned in a free public school. Just what is it you have accomplished?”

Very sad indeed. Your generation was fortunate to have honest teachers interested in teaching legitimate history rather than the hate & envy based ideological indoctrination of the Marxist left.

Of course it is the liberals of your Generation that did this to us, and the rest of your generation which as a whole let them. Academic Independence “for the children” was anther world for dishonesty to deceive and rob our children of a genuine education.

In some states like Texas we are in a position to put a stop to this evil, and this is something that Must be done without delay less there be no future for any of us.

But in many states where liberals dominate there is nothing we can do, except to highlight the dishonesty and hate of their academic institutions.

The exchanges broke down because the north realized every southern soldier was worth 3 northern soldier.

The north hated blacks as much as the south at that time, and as it happens blacks fought on both sides of the conflict.

Here is an entire website dedicate to telling the story of black Confederates:

Actually I think it goes back beyond my generation, by the time I was old enough to have any influence on the school system this was largely done. I didn’t turn thirty until 1974 and the worst of the damage had been done by then. I will agree that my generation had a part in allowing it to become worse every year after that. I confess that I had no inkling just how bad it had become until about fifteen years ago. When I started to notice that it was obvious to me with a high school education that television commentators often made the kind of language usage errors that would have earned a big red F on an exam in my day it started to dawn on me. No one seems to understand pronoun usage now and homonyms are apparently too much to handle.

We need to get a handle on our schools and we need to do it now!

The problem with our education system is not that we are not throwing enough money at it, we have been throwing more money at it than almost anyone else. The problem is a functional one of what they are now doing. Instead of teaching productivity & hard work they are spending countless dollars of our hard earned money teaching innocent kids to be resentful of other races and jealous of the few who are productive.

This study just confirms what we already knew. It also explains why allegedly well educated people with degrees from prestigious universities know next to nothing about history.

These days you have to educate yourself about history - all the great books and surveys are out there.
