Hannity foresees states leaving union
Daily Caller ^ | 1-11-13 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 01/12/2013 9:25:17 AM PST by Mozilla

On his Friday radio show, conservative talker and Fox News host Sean Hannity warned that the United States may fall apart if tax rates remain high.

“The states are now fighting and battling against their own federal government,” Hannity said. ”Same thing with individuals. If you live in a state like New York, New Jersey, California [or] one of these high-tax states [where] 60-plus cents of every dollar goes to taxes, you’ll say, ‘What the hell am I doing this for?’”

“A lot of people have told me that,” Hannity continued. “A lot of people are moving. … I noticed that Bobby Jindal moved to remove his state income tax. He’s not stupid. You know what’s going to happen in Louisiana? The same thing that is happening in Texas and Florida — their populations are soaring. They’re doing a lot better. State governments are fine. They’re surviving. They don’t have the property taxes they do in New York, which is obscene. In New York, you just pay and pay and pay and pay.”

--snip--

“People that are fed up with a power hungry, radicalized, abusive federal government intruding into every aspect of our lives,” Hannity continued. “People are going to say they’re fed up, and states are going to want more liberty and more freedom. They’re not going to want to tax their citizens to death anymore. If this pattern continues and gets worse and worse and worse, I can see at some point the states saying, ‘Forget it. I don’t want to be a part of this union anymore.’”

Hannity rejected the idea that secession is necessarily a “radical concept,” arguing that the Declaration of Independence is itself a “radical document.”

There will be dissolution, but not before bankruptcy and systemic collapse.

Seems to me there was a entire war about this—and the secessionists lost bigtime. Rant and rave all you want,
this is not the answer.

“Obama and his gang have already divided America into two seperate countries.”

We always were IMO, since Jamestown and Plymouth. When we can agree to disagree we can still travel together. The modern left won’t allow that however. Utopians will not tolerate dissent, as it ruins a nice uniform Utopia.

Years back a Russian political scientist said that the USA would break into several nations—up to five. I saw this as sour grapes after the break up of the USSR, but Now I am not so sure. Maybe he was on to something ans the whole fabric of the USA will be changed. Hawaii becomes a kingdom again, Alaska becomes a Republic, Texas and the south becomes a new CSA (sans slavery) —it could happen. I have never seen the nation so divided by race, class, and political division. A decade ago I would have thought such a thing impossible. Something must be done or we will go the way of the USSR.

don’t place much stock in Hannity anymore

I don't either. The way he still panders to the likes of Coulter, Rove, the GOPe and others of their ilk is beyond disgusting.

But, in this one statement he could be right. Obama is overtly trying to set the stage for a revolution, a revolution he wants to win. Let's hope the states prevail and Obama and the socialists are run out of office.

There is only one large state that has it's own power grid, Texas. All the other states except Alaska and Hawaii are dependent on the 2 national power girds for electrical power. So the only state that could leave the union and still have electrical power is Texas. It is highly unlikely, at this time, that Texas would choose to leave the union. Things would have to get a heck of a lot worse first.

Up till quite recently not so much as an extension cord was legally allowed to cross the Texas border. I think that changed about 10 years ago so Texas could sell power nationally, but Texas still has it own grid.

Yes we should create another nation in the long run. But nothing is cut and dry.

I just wonder how it will work dividing the current country. The logistics.

I know most Missourians would want to secede, but they had a democrat take over, for now, in 2009 with the Governor and other officials. So that is a problem because the big cities in many states, like Missouri and also Iowa, have hijacked the rest of the state from time to time.

Then you have to wonder what a purple state will do like New Mexico, Florida or Wisconsin. And what happens if Colorado is surrounded by states who have seceded. Because, these last ten years Colorado has gone far off the deep end. But, I could see Utah leaving and Arizona and then Kansas and Nebraska and Wyoming and Montana and Oklahoma and Texas, of course. Maybe even New Mexico.

And if it happens then where does the looney left go in those states? I worry about the people in the inner cities becoming violent. A race war might start or riots or massive protests will break out like after SB1070 was passed in Arizona possibly. So these are just some the things that can happen.

Obama created this situation when he decided he would not be the president of all America. When he decided to lead from the far left, the Union left the States (and not the other way around).

All states have the ability to generate power. Because the power grid crosses state lines does not mean a state cannot secede. Other countries share power grids peacefully. You comment was and is just stupid. Secession does not mean war.

Igor Panarin.

he is wrong in many of the particulars of his analyses, and we have already passed his estimated date of dissolution. Nevertheless we could break up along regional lines similar to those he presented, but not before much worse economic restraints.

People mock the Russians’ warnings and observations on this, but they would know better than anyone else how it could play out. Their system was designed to maintain control through force, with redundant failsafes, and with a disarmed and generally risk averse population, yet they fell. Then they broke up along historical, cultural and ethnic lines.

The United States is not magic. It is not God’s chosen nation. It can fall, and with sufficient abuse and incompetence from within it will fall. Whether America would emerge from the rubble as a phoenix or a buzzard is the million dollar question.

Hannity also foresaw President Romney.

LOL!

Him and Bush's brain were hysterical... The Hannity show was like a political radio Disney, for the easily amused...

No, it just means that that particular group of states lost that particular bid for independence. They weren't able to inflict severe enough costs and casualties to make releasing them the least painful option, but, however abhorrent their social and economic order, they had every bit as much right to declare independence as the former British colonies. People who are willing to fight and die for independence, to put everything on the line, have every right to go for it. It's just that sometimes they lose. If you're literally willing to die to achieve a goal, who can seriously say you may not attempt it? You just go for it and somebody wins and somebody loses, or you take up the peaceful Czechoslovakian dissolution model and everybody wins (except those who live by stealing your labor through the tax code).

For me the question is not whether people may, but whether they ever would. The critical first step for a prospective conservative independence movement would be the mass migration of conservatives out of the deep blue states and into the red and purple states. That's the key. You have to move to join with your brethren, even if it means making career choices based on patriotism rather than maximizing profit potential. Are Americans willing to do that? Are they willing to endure the privations inherent to building a new nation? To possibly take a bullet? Or is everything A-OK so long as there's beer in the fridge and football on the idiot box? At the end of the day I agree it is highly unlikely, but there's no reason a committed people could not make a try at liberty.

"Secession does not mean war"

And you called my comment stupid? lol, too funny!

Undoubtedly the most important infrastructure in todays world is the POWER GRID. No state can independently exist if it's power grid is controlled by some other state(s). It would be foolish to even attempt it and pretty much guarantee a return to 18th century for a sizable number until an independent grid could be built.

The idea of secession is becoming mainstream, unionists such as yourself are living in the past. A divide is coming - even if dinosaur statists like yourself can't seem to read the handwriting on the wall.

We can do this peacefully this time or have a desperate war and a struggle to the bitter end. I am good either way.

Virgina would not last one week after succeeding, Texas is the only state that has all of the necessary infrastructure and resources. Also Texas once was an independent republic was brought into the USA by treaty. Legally all Texas has to do is nullify the Treaty binding it to the USA. Treaty nullification is common internationally ACCEPTED practice. But hey, this Texan wishes you the best of luck up there in Virgina.
