Cops Unleash Armored 'Beast' for Patrol
WND ^ | January 10, 2013 | Michael Thompson

Posted on 01/12/2013 10:47:38 AM PST by Bon of Babble

Police in one Atlanta community are taking extraordinary measures to deal with heightened rates of violent crime – the unleashing of armored vehicles capable of withstanding bullets fired from AK-47s.

Originally reported by WSB Atlanta, police are using an armored vehicle normally used by SWAT teams to battle a series of burglaries and home invasions in a south Fulton County neighborhood.

How about 12 ga. slugs from about 5 feet?

I wouldn’t go into those areas WITHOUT an armored vehicle. So I have some sympathy here.

Dig a pit
Fill will fuel
Cover with debris
Beast drives over/into it
Light fuel
Add sauce

These things may protect those inside of it from gun fire, but if it gets bogged down in a flaming pit, it becomes a dutch oven. They have to flee at some point or get cooked like a roast.

Thanks Paladin2!!

I was hoping someone would post that photo!!

I’m still working on how to post photos on here — my 19-year old expert (studying game design at a fancy-schmancy university) is back at school. Will practice in the sandbox (sigh).

It’s hard to teach an old dog like me new tricks!!

Everyone knows that the US military cannot be deployed within the US to control the population.

But we've got black uniformed SWAT teams with masks and heavy weaponry.
We have cops with armored vehicles.
We have drones.
We have no-knock raids on private residences -- sometimes with no warrant.

We need to recognize that we are an occupied country. The fact that the oppressors aren't wearing bright red uniforms this time seems to be confusing the sheeple, who think that this is all just good fun.

Maybe they better ban Molotov Cocktails too.

withstanding bullets fired from AK-47s.

Sure, but general Molotov has a solution. Works every time it's tried (if you don't have a LAW or RPG).

It's actually easy, type <img src="IMAGE_URL"> where IMAGE_URL is the location of the image.
Be warned however, the use of HTML means that the auto-formatting does not apply, so text[ENTER][ENTER]here would render as "texthere" rather than:
"text

here"
Also, there's a FreeRepublic [TreeView] script for the GreaseMonkey FireFox plug-in which lets you hit Ctrl+Shift+I to insert an image (a dialog pops up where you can put the URL in; it's useful to have already copied it into the clipboard so you can just paste it in [Ctrl+V].)

” If a robot policeman fires on a black man (caught in a criminal act) can he claim profiling, racism and discrimination?”

“The area where the BearCat G3 is being deployed is roughly 81 percent black.”

I’d say there’s a good possibility of that happening.

And i guarantee there is one attribute every criminal in that neighborhood has in common.

Police in one Atlanta community are taking extraordinary measures to deal with heightened rates of violent crime

What heightened rates? The rates of violent crimes and murders have fallen steadily for years. There's nothing going on in crime statistics that comes anywhere close to warranting the ongoing militarization of domestic law enforcement - drone surveillance, surveillance cameras in public areas, equipment enabling police to obtain thermal images inside private homes, armored vehicles - made for use by the US military against enemy combatants, now being used by police departments on US civilians.

SWAT needs an array of special equipment, teams of manpower and armored vehicles to battle burglars and home invaders and the people in the same neighborhood don't need anything but a handgun with no more than 10 rounds

Once cops would have known they needed to stop the criminals rather than simply get into an arms war with them.

A lot of the folks i know who’ve come back from Iraq and Afghanistan picked up a few tricks as well for dealing with light armor...

I only mentioned the 12 ga. slug as a sarcastic remark to the comment in the article regarding "stopping an AK-47"......aka, the most over publicized and demonized evil firearm in existence today.

As a side note, there was a report on this morning's news here in S.E. Michigan about a shooting at a police station in Inkster which of course involved an "assault weapon".......no further information was available at that time.........
