Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress

A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."

Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:

Patriotism Pride in American Exceptionalism Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse. Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."

Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated.

The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.

The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased.

While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:

"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Didn’t Bo Gritz try something like this a while back? What happened to that? I wish them well and we seem to not have the luxury of lots of time, but I hope we can at least learn from mistakes made before, because we don’t have the luxury of making lots of them to learn from either.

Even the Nazi invasion of Poland has very good blitzkrieg strategies.

There was never a Nazi Party invasion of Poland, perhaps you mean the German invasion?

400 years ago that would have been great, but today with fighter jets , drones, helicopters, it wouldn’t have a prayer.

Citadel will only work with an ‘Iron Dome’ battery to defend it against incoming U.S. guided missiles (EMP, etc.).

I see red warning flags all over this! Don’t let it turn out to be another ELOHIM CITY, OKLAHOMA.

There are a ton of problems with that design, the least of which is manufacturing near the corner, away from decent defense.

For heaven's sake don't live in western Idaho - there are nothing but toothless gun-toting rednecks there. Wolves. Giant eagles that carry off small children. Rabid moose. Great herds of titanium-hooved wildebeest that terrorize Sierra Club parties. Mastodon, tigers, savage narwhals who spit helpless penguins on their spiked whatevers. Titmice. THE PLACE IS CRAWLING WITH TITMICE, F'GODSSAKE!

Well, that's the stuff I see after a little of my next-door neighbor's hooch. Purple spiders, too.

Dunno about Benewah county, though. Gorgeous country near St. Maries, and it's private enough - local saying is "In Benewah no one can hear you scream." I wasn't kidding about the moose above, or the wolves. I about smacked a moose on the highway there last evening. I was headed north, he was headed east. If we collide, I lose.

At first I was like “well it’s not for me, but whatevs,” until I read the part about the big wall and keeping people out, now I think anybody who moves there is an idiot. This is like shooting your balls off to protest feminism.

Interesting, I was having similar thoughts, though not nearly as elaborate. At first glance, my only quibble is that there should be angled bastions instead of round towers for better visibility.

I don’t know of any city that has ever withstood a prolonged siege, but I can’t stress enough the importance of uninterruptable energy, water, and food supplies.

Another lesson to take from castle design is the concept of bottlenecks and layered defenses. In the event that the outer perimeter is breached (say by marauding Marxists), progress to the inner perimeter is only via bottlenecks that are subject to attack from all directions.
