LAS VEGAS — A 23-year-old contestant from Brooklyn won the title of Miss America in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Mallory Hagan, who hails from Park Slope, won the beauty pageant after tap dancing to James Brown's "Get Up Off of That Thing" and answering a question about whether armed guards belong in grade schools by saying we should not fight violence with violence.

A woman who is physically attacked by a rapist is not commiting violence,’she is defending herself.
A man set upon by a bunch of young thugs is not committing violence, he is defending himself.
Violence is illegal use of force against another. Self-defense is legal use of force against those intent on violence against you.
these libtards can’t tell the difference between legitimate and illegitimate uses of force. they are operating from an erroneous foundational view, and it must be made the focus of any argument against them.

I believe that beauty contestants such as so and so an so forth are so so I don’t know and in conclusion yes I don’t agree to believe it is not the truth such as.

About as dumb a statement as there is. Words cannot describe how stupid this answer is. It boggles the mind that a mind can be as vapid as to make such a comment. The fact that she won tells us on how very and exceedingly far of this country has fallen. So much for public education.

Just as an interesting side note, we went to Bass Pro this afternoon. They were OUT of .22 ammo and a few others. The entire bottom of their counter displays were empty and the top shelves had large open sections. The hunting section was very crowded! But we managed to find a few boxes of what we were looking for and we got a nice sharp hatchet. (Marked something off the would-be-nice list!)
