Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress
CNS News ^ | 12th January 2013 | Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr.

A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."

Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:

•Patriotism

•Pride in American Exceptionalism

•Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and

•Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."

Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated.

The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.

The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased.

While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:

"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

I know they are totally against this, but this is somehow strangely the way I pictured the compounds in Glenn Beck’s book Agenda 21. Kinda’ spooky if you ask me.

One way in and out, way over populated, no place is out of sight of a watch tower, walls within walls within walls. Sure doesn’t sound like freedom to me.

This has all been done before. Look at the castle towns of Europe. We do have thousands of “gated communities.” It was the same idea in Ireland with their shelter towers (Irish: túrtheach (singular), túrthithe (plural)).

They do not work well and can be destroyed by seige and from the air.But they sure can take a lot of the enemy with them, making the enemy pay big time.A few can even prevail, a very few according to history.

Is this

the kind of structure they have in mind? I hope there is plenty of food and water storage in case of a siege. The double walls would be useful against a mob on the ground, but I see a problem if the attacker has missiles or helicopters.

At least this is a start. With time these ideas and concepts will take better shape. To me it is how to keep the government infiltrators, the real freedom and liberty haters out and how to deal with them should any of them get caught inside the compounds. You know the America hater SPLC types will get their brown stained knickers in a knot over these ideas.

Over on the FAQ page a very pertinent question is asked. One I wanted to know as well...

Who is the leader?

Seemed like a reasonable question to me. Somebody has to be in charge. Who is this approval board etc. They don’t answer the question. The answer is all shrouded in patriotic language.

That is what is spooky...One doesn’t have any clue who they are dealing with, sending their “patriot” application too, or the money too?

People are getting desperate, I agree with on that. And that also means people will be taken advantage of ....just be very careful. Not everyone spouting off about ‘patriot’ this or that is what they appear to be.

Uh... No Thank You.

Between 14,000 and 28,000 people on 2 to 3 thousand acres sounds like a city to me.

I live in a township that’s more than 23 square miles and there are less than 3000 people here.

Will they have cows to catapult over the walls, just in case?

An ample supply of imported French “taunters” would also be helpful.

Sounds sorta like a fancy commune to me. It’s not a new idea by any means; it’s really just an ideological statement metaphor manifested.

My little town is plenty defensible without the walls and overcrowding. 3 roads in, 2 of them across bridges and the 3rd surrounded by near impassable swamp. We’re off the beaten path with a lake on one side and swamp the rest of the way around.
