Dana Loesch’s calling out of CNN’s “real journalist” Piers Morgan over his error in categorizing the caliber of the Bushmaster rifle used in the Sandy Hook massacre might seem petty, aside from two reasons. First, Morgan believes he’s fully qualified to determine what weapons American citizens should and should not be allowed to own. Second, he himself wastes no opportunity to call out his detractors on their spelling errors, like so:

It is my understanding that the weapons used were two 9 mm pistols. (semi auto of course, not muzzle loaders or revolvers) I will accept the fact the calibers might actually be different.

I find the behavior and demeanor of Piers Morgan despicable. Piers Morgan is a representative of CNN. As such he has seriously damaged the image and credibility of CNN (which most believe is nill already) with his crass, repugnant, rude behavior. Further, Mr. Morgan is a British subject. As such he and the “Crown” should remember the severe ASS KICKING they suffered in our last little dust up. As a serf of the Crown, Mr. Morgan should also be reminded that he HAS NO STANDING WHATSOEVER to pontificate his views of Our Constitutional rights. Piers Morgan should also be reminded that not only were his Redcoats kicked out of America by a rag tag bunch of American Patriots with nothing more than muskets his homeland also is a vanquished nation reduced to having their Harrier jets sold off on Ebay and their political decisions made for them by foreigners in Brussels, This unfortunate calamity might not have occurred if his countrymen had a smidgen of the brilliance exhibited by our founding fathers when they wrote the Second Amendment to our Constitution.
I suggest that you transfer Piers to the Havana Bureau where he will be right at home on his knees kissing the ass of another anti-gun advocate, Fidel Castro.

I know that the shotgun was found in his trunk. There is security video of that being taken out of the trunk but nothing else.

The pistols, and yes I know, nothing has been proven.
I find it interesting that the youth would have been able to conceal a rifle while gaining access to the school. Not impossible, but much easier to conceal a couple of semi auto pistols.
I thought much the same but there was info released a couple of days ago that the long gun found in the car was a shotgun. Not the Bushmaster.
Why conceal it??? He parked his car within 10 feet of the door and was in the school in a matter of seconds. He could have had a howitzer in full view and no one could have stopped him in that short of period of time.

I think you can pretty well assume here that when NBC said 4 handguns, he meant 4 guns [not just handguns]. Either that or he misunderstood what was told him.
And the video maker here thinks that his watchers are stupid and don't know a shotgun from a rifle.

Where is the video of the other weapons being removed from the school? The angle of the video of the car indicates it was taken from above, as was that of the man being chased down in the woods, so we know there was recording being done on site.
Where is the security video of the school/inside the school? The audio of the 911 calls? The audio of the intercom being broadcast throughout the school? Would that audio be broadcast outside, too, say, toward a playground, the front sidewalk or the teachers’ parking lot?
Where is other testimony? At all? From people who came?
How could emergency vehicles get out, based on the pix we’ve seen?
Is it even possible to refurbish, rewire, and equip an unused school in 2 weeks? Who was on the construction crews? Where are the pictures, which should be a source of civic pride, given such an extraordinary pace—two weeks.
If police were 2.5 miles away, why did it take them 20 minutes to arrive after receiving the 911 call?

According to police dispatch [#33], the first units were there within 3 to 5 minutes of the first call.
This has been an absolute bonanza for Piers Morgan. Hardly anybody knew who he was before. After taking over for Larry King, the ratings tanked. He’s managed to get his name back out there now. I’m sure he’ll get a nice bump in ratings.
The whole problem is those concealable 105mm semi-autonomous reciprocating derringer pistols. Nobody uses them to hunt deer, just movie-goers. The evil things should be banned (the pistols, not the movie-goers).

Re presence on the scene: If law enforcement arrived in 3-5 minutes, what did LEO do? Did LEO not enter the school at that time? If not, why not? Anyone killed after that 5 minute mark (maybe 6) could have been spared.

People were killed. There are questions that I would want answered, were I a relative.
The chase up into the woods took place 3 minutes after the dispatch was made [9:36] and within seconds of arrival at the school [9:39--9:40].
At the same time [9:40] the LEOs were swarming the front entrance. It's right there in the dispatch. There is news video of this with the 9:40 timestamp.
He shot himself 6 minutes later at 9:46.

Others around here will know certain terms better than me, but this here is the deal.
American cartridge and caliber designations are seldom a function of the EXACT bullet diameter. Perfect example is as you point out, the .223 Remington. This cartidge uses a bullet that's 5.56mm in diameter. However, when Remington began marketing this cartridge commercially it was called the .223 Remington instead of the 5.56 Nato for the American market.
Other examples: .38 Special uses a bullet that's .356 to .358 in diameter, or .357 - hence the cartidge designation .357 magnum when the .38 special was lengthened and "up-loaded" to magnum velocities.
.30-06 does not mean ".3006 of an inch in bullet diameter. It means "Thirty caliber cartidge of 1906, or .30-06 for short. (Bullet diameter is .308, not to be confused with the .308 Winchester, although it uses the same .308 bullet diamter.)
Uh, let's see here... oh yeah. .44 special and .44 magnum are acutally about .43 in diameter, or so I've heard.
.30-30 means ".30 caliber, originally loaded with 30 grains of black powder".
In a nutshell, American standard cartidge designations have as much to do with marketing from the original manufacturer as with any exacting technical specification. European, or metric designations tend to be more exacting, i.e. "5.56 x 45mm", which correctly describes the bullet diameter and cartridge length.

When this mother arrived at the school the six kids from Soto’s class were running away from the school, there was another mother there, the doors of Lanza’s car were open as if it had been searched, the glass next to the door into the school was broken where it had been shot out, and it was eerily quiet until shots rang out and kids started leaving the building.
