Reports say iPhone 5 demand is now half of planned figures. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to have slashed component orders. The pre-market stock price is falling fast, heading below $500.

Too funny. Obama voters get what they deserve.

I would say the lack of jailbreaking and unlocking as well as poor QC in the iPhone 5 are leading reasons why folks aren’t buying them.

This obsession with getting the latest phone TOY is absolutely ridiculous. The younger generation no longer answers a phone or talks on it. They cannot deal with an actual conversation, they can only communicate by texting.

We are getting dumber at an alarming rate.

In my opinion, Apple got ahead of itself with the iPhone 5. Apple Fanboys are quick to gobble up the new tech, but average people, myself included, don’t want to “upgrade” their gadgets every 12-18 months. The iPhone 5, to most consumers, is just a flashier version of the 4/4S, and adoption is weak as a result.

I believe this is less about money and more about market saturation. People will gobble up tablets, because they’re new and cool. Apple’s almost perfected the iPhone, and minor tweaks, performance increases, etc. are going to go unnoticed unless and until the newest whiz-bang apps require them.

FWIW, Microsoft is feeling the same pinch with Windows 8. People don’t want a new OS just because it supports touchscreens. Win7 works very well already.

Strange, I didn’t see anything about Obama voters.

You seem to assume that only liberals buy iPhones and other Apple products.

My WAG is that the student loan bubble is a factor with iMargin at AAPL.

I finally retired my old Black Berry and bought an iPhone 5. I really don’t like typing on a touch screen but the other gadgets are interesting.
My main use is email and telephone.

Don’t really need siri, a compass, today’s weather, etc.

Finally upgrade my years old laptop. Probably a 15 pounder to a 5.5 pound HP 2.4ghz, 15.4 screen, 500GB, 4GB ram running Windows 8.

Did not want to go to Windows 8. They have a start menu system designed to sell videos, music and games that we could do without.

PC works well and cost $379 at Best Buy. Went by the Apple computers that ran $1500-$2000. Just cannot see paying that much. Never could.

I have one, and it is a very nice product. The environment is simply different. Unless the iphone4 is failing, there is no widespread need to upgrade for most consumers. The 4 is fine. Also, the competition has improved greatly. I chose iPhone over Samsung galaxy III, but it was a close call. I wanted to stability and more reliable battery life, which was a struggle i had previously had as an android user.

A year or so ago, I was in Verizon a day after a major phone release. There was no crowd or rush. The days of long lines is mostly over for these releases, as each phone is only an incremental change from others. The customer base has matured in the mobile space.

I've had the iPhone from tbe start thru Iphone 4s, and it's so "yesterday" now. It is being eclipsed by the new interest now in the Samsung Galaxy SIII (and Galaxy Note II)....

GALAXY S-III

GALAXY NOTE II

The main reason i’ve held off getting a 5 so far is because they changed the charger connection on the bottom of the phone rendering all my current docks around my house obsolete, which sort of ticks me off.

But, I am due for an upgrade on my phone plan and will probably break down and get one soon.

the liberal Apple just released the iPhone 4, it’s way too soon for anyone to crave a 5. I know this because I have kids that use these phones. Me, I wouldn’t dream of such, I hate my phone, a Samsung peice of junk but I would not absolutely not get an Apple

Just had this discussion yesterday.

If you were shopping for luxury sedan, you might look at Cadillac, BMW, and Audi. If you are looking for economy car, you might look at Hyundai, Honda, Chevy and Kia. A person who can afford an Audi would not be happy with a Chevy Sonic. A person who can only afford a Sonic will say that Audis are too expensive.

If you have only ever been on the Sonic side of life, you cannot speak with authority and knowledge about the Audi side. The buying experience is VERY different. The driving experience is VERY different. The overall cost of ownership is VERY different.

Same thing with Apple. Buying a Mac (especially in an Apple Store) is a very different experience (usually) than buying a bargain laptop at Best Buy. I have done both. Trust me, Apple is better.

Having a Mac serviced is a very different experience. My son had a minor USB port issue with his one year old Mac Book. They took his computer to the back, pulled his hard drive, put it in a new computer, and sent him on his way in half an hour. While not always perfect, you can see from surveys that Mac users are very happy with the technical support.

Owning and using a Mac is a very different experience. Transitioning to the new operating system is easy and within a week I didn’t even think about it. Not having to mess with registry issues, malware and virus issues, and inconvenient security updates that take your computer offline for hours is wonderful. We have four Macs and one PC at work (for now) and spend far more time maintaining the PC than the four Macs combined.

Are Macs right for everyone? No. If you are a college student on a very tight budget and spend your free time playing computer games, they stay with PCs. If, however, you run a business and want your computers to “just work” consistently, you should do an honest total cost of ownership evaluation and see if Macs might not be just the thing your company needs.

they do that just to make money along with the breakable glass in the things. i have replaced a number of the screens for my kids and it royally peeves me because I know they could use nonbreakable something or other for the screen but they won’t because apple likes charging us 100 dollars to replace the screens. Another reason I personally will not buy one Just waiting for the class action lawsuit based on the warranty of suitability for the purpose intended, kids do not intend to cut their fingers and their faces with this piece of junk phone. NO OTHER PHONES DO THIS

I had a IP4 for 2 years and changed to a Windows 8. Everything about the Windows Nokia 920 is better except the app selection. I could have had a IP5 but it was not a compelling upgrade, and Android is not supported in my company.

Good grief.
