Notwithstanding Ed Kochs reputation for candor, I didnt believe my eyes when I read that Koch said he knew President Obama would renege on his support of Israel. Koch said his only shock was that it happened so soon, citing Obamas nomination of former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel to be defense secretary, according to The Algemeiner newspaper.
Is it true? Did Koch really say that?
I did say it, he told me Tuesday, adding he was making a point about why he had endorsed Obama, despite such misgivings.
People dont really change when you get to his age, the former mayor said of Obama. So I had no doubt that with the course of time, his new strength would weaken.
Still, he insists, I dont regret supporting him. I believe it bought time . . . Im just sorry it was so short-lived.
Now it was my turn to be shocked. Not over the fact that Koch thinks Hagel is a disaster for America and Israel. I agree. Rather, Im shocked that Koch is shocked at Obama.
How could he not see that the betrayal would be instant?
Except during his two campaigns, Obama consistently tilted away from Israel and toward its enemies. His uncertain policy toward Iran, which has threatened to wipe Israel off the map, has unnerved many Israelis and Americans, and his antagonistic attitude toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sealed the impression of hostility.

Koch is a jackass anyway that cannot speak. He wants ALL guns seized except for law enforcement and military.
Bought time? Obama hasn't even been sworn in for his second term. What time did your support buy? Koch is a moron.
O's puppeteers see Muslim Brotherhood as a natural ally. He, they, consistently back them.
He is a politician, so he walks a line between what he says and what he does. If you follow every little zig and zag you'll be occasionally confused about who he is. Follow the general thrust, though, and its all pretty clear.
I don't think anyone has any legitimate excuse for being surprised at anything he does.
If he had such misgivings, why did he vote for him? He had to know, like just about everyone, that Obama was/is no friend of Israel.
So, how's that working out for you now, Mr. Mayor?/sarc
Thanks for nothing, Mayor Idiot.
Americans reneged on their responsibilities on 11/6/12
There’s no fool like an old fool.
Let me summarize: I, Ed Koch, am an asshole. Never, ever, listen to me again, about anything.
There was a *crystal* clear choice, a friend of Israel or an enemy. The Jews voted for their enemy. Ed Koch is the new head of the Judenrat. Maybe they’ll gas him last, after he’s lead the rest of his people into the ovens.
Has Israel protested the nomination of Hagel?
I guess that would make Obama a reneger.
