Maryland to gun owners: We want your fingerprints
WaPo (Maryland local) ^ | 1-14-2013 | Aaron C. Davis and John Wagner

Posted on 01/14/2013 12:37:22 PM PST by Sir Napsalot

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will seek to institute some of the nation’s strictest gun-licensing requirements, ban assault weapons and restrict visitor access to schools in one of the most expansive government responses sought to last month’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Perhaps most controversially, O’Malley (D) will ask the General Assembly to force prospective gun owners to provide fingerprints to state police, complete a hands-on weapon-familiarization and gun-safety course, and undergo a background check to be licensed.

And the governor is seeking new measures to keep guns out of the hands of those with mental illness who show violent tendencies. .... (read more at link))

So.

Massachusetts must be ‘safe-ER’ than Maryland, or any other state except for maybe CA, right?

“Our Country is being controlled by the mentally ill.”

Just some states. Do your vacation travel only in gun-friendly states & you’ll find it’s still a big country.

;^)

Nice take, Marcella.

I guess if the tyrants pull this off against the Second Ammendment, with no measurable push back, they can finger print us for the First Ammendment as well.

I have concluded there will be no real resistance until we are silenced. Presently, our names are just going on lists; we’re being finger printed, captured, marginalized and frozen. All that seems to be tolerable.

It is not tolerable. Our states are the last bastion of freedom aynd they remain rather quiet generally speaking. I believe the bough is breaking, at least I think I’m hearing a cracking sound.

None of these proposals will prevent crime. They will instead place the onus on people who want to LAWFULLY own a gun. This is all rubbish. The Governor is trying to fool the public into believing that he is actually doing something, when he is in fact doing nothing constructive.

Are they going to go into the ghetto at 2 am and ask the criminals to swing by and give fingerprints? How about asking them if their weapons are legal?

The politicians are afraid. They know that honest, law-abiding citizens will obey the law and not shoot them. They know that gangbangers will not obey the law and will shoot them.

And so the politicians leave guns in the hands of criminals and plan to take them from honest people.

I will be relocating to Pennsylvania before the end of the month. Between the taxes and stupid liberal control, it is time to get out. CCW here I come.

Might have to disarm a lot of state troopers, sheriffs and police in Maryland ....

If any of you Freak Staters want to dump your ARs before O’Malice breaks down your doors, now is the time to do it. They’ll be given good homes here in Virginia. We promise to feed them regularly, keep them clean, and take them out for walks.
We moved from Prince George’s County to VA 4 and a half years ago and never looked back.

Are you kidding me? I will never give up my guns. If they take my primary, I have others...if they pass an Unconstitutional law.....

I WILL NOT COMPLY

I’m also a very good hider.
