The sane reaction to the Sandy Hook shooting might have been to look at the country’s mental illness infrastructure.
The shooter in the case was clearly sick, and mental illness is the common denominator among these mass shootings, after all, from Newtown to Tucson to Aurora to Virginia Tech and beyond.
Instead, look at what we’re doing.
The White House and many in Congress have targeted legal gun owners and guns; at least one lawmaker in Iowa has openly called for confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens; and several media outlets have even run maps showing the homes, addresses and names of legal gun permit holders in New York.
That latter move of publicly identifying legal gun owners, by the Journal-News of Westchester County and by Gawker.com, is particularly despicable. It puts a target on the back of law-abiding gun owners, while criminals with guns are excused from the discussion.
It’s possible some of the legal gun owners may have been put in danger by the exposure – from burglars intent on stealing guns or from past abusers who may not have known their victims’ current place of residence.
But in the main, the decision to publish the identities of legal gun owners is a reprehensible attempt to scapegoat them and subject them to public ridicule in the wake of a tragedy many miles away that they had nothing to do with.
In short, law-abiding gun owners across this country are being slandered...

This will only create an “angry backlash” that will blow up in the faces of the gun controlers.
It is no debate because liberals aren't interested in listening.
Our founders wisely set up a form of government that works at a snail’s pace for a reason. Its to avoid knee jerk reactions.
They dont want reasonable debate. They want to clamp down on peoples freedoms before the people have a chance to find out whatever happened to their liberties. Like they did with obamacare.

The GOP should very publicly announce that they don’t intend to debate or obey gun control. In fact they should say that the only debate they intend to have is about how to return constitutional freedoms.

Having said that, the issue of the right to keep and bear arms was resolved in this country a couple of hundred years ago.
If there is a problem, it is that not enough people do both. A lot of people keep arms. Not enough people bear them.
Look at some photos of people in public in Israel. You can see hot little teeny-boppers cruising the mall just like they do here, but they have select-fire M-16's slung over their shoulders.
They don’t want “reasonable debate”. They want to disarm conservatives. Duh.
Didn’t our Forefathers create Representative government with Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches so as to PREVENT sudden knee-jerk implementation of laws based on emotions? So that logic and REASON would prevail over emotion?
The Left is just into gun grabbing. They had legislation “drafted” by the end of the week. Or else it was already drafted and just pulled out of a drawer when the opportunity to strike presented itself.
And while examination needs to be made of how we deal with people prone to violent outburst, the Rats are getting it assbackwards.
It IS NOT every gun buyer who must prove he is not insane, it is the insane who must not be permitted free movement. If they aren’t going to be held accountable for their actions, then they need a guardian with them at all times.
Crazy people can kill with poison, bombs, cars, etc. Not just guns. Saying that they “are functional” is a lie. They have a violent “malfunction”. They PASS for normal.

The left jumped on those dead children like vultures. They have been waiting for death like grim reapers.
The LEFT is not REASONABLE therefore you CANNOT have a REASONABLE debate with them.
In other words, they are leftist fanatics who are basically insane and you cannot deal with insanity with reason.
It is time that Conservatives and other moderates create their own vocabulary about the Left, and continue to use it in writing, speaking, etc.
Make sure that you clearly define the enemy by key words including:
* Delusional
* Unconstitutional
* Leftist Lunatics
* Statists (hattip to Mark Levin though this is a very sophisticated word concept to use with the masses)
* Stalinists
* Left Fascists (describe how their rise to power parallels that of Mussolini and Hitler but how their tactics are more like the Marxists of Mao Tse-tung, Chavez, Castro and Stalin re disarming the population, the systematic destruction of artificially created “classes” of economic status, “big landowners”, now “big business”, “rich” - making over $250,000 gross, etc.
* Liars - There are enough provable lies by the Democrats and associate Leftists that a list of 10-20 key “lies” should convince a dead man that they were real.
Just a couple of off-the-cuff comments, but you know where I’m heading.
Define the enemy on your terms, not theirs.
The fact that anyone would consider this an issue for ‘debate’ is itself troubling.
