The White House has identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of House Democrats on Monday, the administration’s first definitive statements about its response to last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.
The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.
“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).
But Biden did indicate that the remains of the Obama campaign apparatus may be activated in the effort.
“He said that this has been a real focus on the policy and that the politics of this issue, that a strategy on the politics of the issue hasn’t been undertaken yet,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. “He did remind us that the campaign infrastructure is still accessible.”

I am terrified for my country. Where we are headed, it does not look good..either we all stand up now to defend it or we wont have a country left. I dont own a gun, but I respect everyone’s right to have one..what Obama wants to do is EXACTLY what Hitler did..get rid of the guns so that he can have full control of the nation..its what the Communists have longed for in America, the total destruction of the 2nd Amendment..just even trying that, never thought I would ever be typing about a President wanting to destroy the 2nd Amendment but here we are
and if you are selected for a jury when a fellow patriot is charged with these phoney gun charges you stand your ground on not guilty. If everyone charged held out for a jury trial this country’s judicial system would be overwhelmed.

Yes, because mitt romney never created laws that would put people in jail for not buying health insurance and he never, ever made gun ownership a felony. Nope...not mitt. He would never do something like that. Oh...wait...
Let me guess...you're going to say he would not be doing the exact same thing that obama is doing right now. The only difference is you would also have the gop establishment telling you to shut up and sit down because you had nowhere else to go.

The more I think about it, I don’t think anyone that voted for Obama is mentally fit to own any firearm.
I believe you are right. America is already in the “dying process.” Many don’t yet quite see it yet, because of a ground perspective. But America is decaying at an increasingly exponential pace, courtesy this tyrant defiling the White House. Decaying economically, culturally, and morally.
A lot of folks think this process will be a slow, drawn-out affair, with the country gradually devolving into the kind of one-party, third-world socialist hell over a period of decades. But I’m thinking things might actually start unravelling at a very fast and unexpected speed, perhaps catching a lot of people by surprise.
I remember during the Primary those “Pure Conservative” FReepers joining rags like Politico in the trashing of our candidates: “Sorry, Bachmann’s just not ready for prime time...”, “Sorry, but Cain isn't answering these allegations in the right way...” Yada, Yada! And then, these same idiots bitched because we got Romney!
As adults, we have to deal in reality. There's nothing noble about so-called conservatives having more contempt for Romney than a known Marxist. These “Patriots” had 3+ years to see what Obama had done, and his promise to do more, but still found more contempt for Romney.
Pathetic you choose to defend this. Fact: these “Patriots” helped ensure Obama won a second term. Are you really going to sit here and tell us Romney would be going after our guns right now? Pfft!

I've been reading on FR all day and a number of Freepers are ready to hit the road to Washington. All those millions of weapons out in the country represent millions of people. I think such a march could happen.
Wait until Hussein's 19 executive orders come out later this week. Let's see what the mood of the country is then.
When you can explain how electing unprincipled people that refuse to stand for anything gets you constitution supporting results, let me know.

I don’t have any guns, although I once considered getting one because I had to go to a rather remote place out in the county every so often and if the local meth freak attacked you, you’d be dead long before the sheriff’s dept even figured out where you were located. However, since I never did get one then and don’t feel I need to have one now, I don’t really have any personal involvement in this matter.
But when I was driving along and heard that horrible purple-lipped Muslim Marxist goon going on and saying “well, there are some actions I am going to take,” I almost ran off the road because I was cursing so much. I was even surprised myself by my vocabulary.
I just cannot believe this. How is it that we have we ended up with a dictator airily saying, “I am going to do...” something about a constitutionally protected right - and the entire country is not out in the streets?
Out of the 16 signed on candidates for the nomination only 3 were lifelong Conservative Republicans.
