Obama administration hiding info on targeted killings of Americans - senator (Ron Wyden)
RT ^ | 1/15/13

A US senator has accused the Obama administration and the Justice Department for not being “adequately forthcoming” with information on the targeting and potential killing of Americans suspected of terrorism.

Ron Wyden, the Democratic senator from Oregon and a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, wrote an open letter to John Brennan, the frontrunner for the post of Director of the CIA, asking Brennan to provide Congress with the secret legal opinions defining the government’s capacity to pursue and kill US citizens suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

Members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence by law have access to classified legal opinions – but, Wyden writes, the Obama administration has denied him access to the opinions governing targeted assassinations of American citizens.

Wyden stressed that it is vital that the legal opinions guiding such conduct be distributed so that Congress and the public can “have full knowledge of how the executive branch understands the limits and boundaries of this authority,” the letter reads.

Wyden has tried for more than two years to gain access to the information, but has received either unsatisfactory responses or no response at all.

I wonder how many have been on US soil? And looking back on some of the “suspicion criteria” issued by Big Sis, I’d really like to know who they were.

The entire US Congress should either resign
or consider ritual suicide on TV
for their giving up THEIR authority to the Tyrant.

Doesn't Wyden listen to the leader of his party? The Congress is irrelevant in our new Post-Consitutional America. /s

You make a very good point. I wonder though, if the “American citizens” are on foreign soil and conducting terrorist operations or supporting terrorist activities and organizations against the USA, are they protected by the defenses offered by the Constitution of the USA or subject to the laws of the country they are in, thereby making themselves subject to anti-terrorist operations by the USA?

The constitution makes no requirement regarding location, merely being a citizen is sufficient. Due process is being violated. This is not constitutional. Rampant violations of our rights is happening, as our government marchs on down the road toward totalitarianism.

George Bush was called Hitler because of panties on the head, yet Obama kills and nary a whisper of criticism from the presstitutes.

Maybe if they release the citizen kill list state by state, that would help.

Good post.

It is inevitable and important that the democrat dam begins to crack, and democrats get-a-clue, and become willing to speak, while there is still time to speak, at all. Perhaps this is a start.

Wyden has been obnoxious. This time he is showing himself to be at some certain risk for being rather courageous. He will be finished politically, after all.

I am grateful for his voice, one that nails this president for excessive perogatives taken.

Cute name, that comment poster.

“Bark obumma”.

Did I get it right? Reminds me of Bark-A-Lounger, by Lazy Boy Furniture. A suitable image of Barky in the upstairs TV room recliner, watching basketball season unfold, away from the golf course, and the Oval.

*** targeting and potential killing of Americans suspected of terrorism. ***

Does that include gunsmiths? Two have died under mysterious circumstances.

This is quickly going from bad to nightmare status. Everyday the ante is upped. Every single day, it is something worse than the days preceding.
