In a memoir to be published on Tuesday, Sonia Sotomayor writes of the chronic disease, troubled family relationships and failed marriage that accompanied her rise from a housing project in the Bronx to a seat on America's highest court....
she also called affirmative action a "double-edged sword." She said some people still attribute her position on the court to affirmative action, based on her identity as a Latina justice...
Sotomayor's book is not the first literary window into a justice's personal life. Justice Clarence Thomas described his experience with poverty, racism and affirmative action in "My Grandfather's Son," and retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor wrote about her early life growing up on an Arizona cattle ranch in "Lazy B." Sotomayor's self-portrait is the most revealing, down to the references to the old-lady underwear a friend persuaded her to abandon...

Objectively, I think Sotomayor is more prone to be a reasonable justice than the Kenyan Clown's other SCOTUS pick.
NPR was also worshipful this morning.
An affirmative-action Administration, and soon another as SCOTUS.
How’s that workin’ out for ya?
Struggles? What struggles?
She’s gotten affirmative-action free ride her whole life. If she were a white, non-Hispanic male, she’d be a ‘Human Resources’ clerk somewhere and drive a Subaru ‘cause she couldn’t afford a Prius.
?Wise Latina” my behind. She’s a progressive socialist stooge.
And so “white male caucasians” never have a life struggle? And so all “white male caucasians” are privileged and their life battles don’t deserve to be enshrined in a book?
I’m sick of all this identity politics. Everyone is an individual, not a member of a collectivity. No one is responsible for the actions of other people, alive or dead, who have been artificially placed in the same-named group.
Jotto is right, this is squarely hit the nail on the head. This is where I pause, drink my coffee, and throw up my hands and say YES. If she were White, Protestant, she would be working at the check out station at Walmart...the most... She worked the SYSTEM. And a lot of other people like rats learn where they have to go to get the CHEESE. Power on Imperalists!!!!! It will come crashing down..
I think you are too kind having her employed as a human resources clerk but aside from that, your commentary is exactly on point.
DUH! Doesn't hurt being a Commie with that Marxist Mooslim making the appointment.
“NPR was also worshipful this morning.”
NPR was worshipful yesterday as well. Two days of glowing interviews with this woman. I expect more tomorrow.
Yes, I listen to NPR. Helps me know what the enemy is doing and thinking, and what their talking points are.
It's better in the original German.
Another pea brain liberal writes about their oh so bad background. The good thing is there are those good people who have had maybe the same or much worse who instead of wearing it on their sleeve have risen above it and gone forward.
Liberals do like to hear themselves talk.
How do her struggles compare to those men who crossed the Delaware River wearing rags in freezing rain to surprise the Hessians one Christmas Eve? Or the struggles of the men who walked into the blazing machine gun fire at Normandy or those who endured the Bataan death march? Perhaps her struggles were equal to those of the white pioneer women on the Great Plains who lost their husbands to Indian attacks and stayed on, despite the dangers, to till the soil and raise their children alone. It may be her struggles are grater than those a 25 year old woman with two children will begin to face today when she is told her husband will not be returning from Afghanistan because the Commander in Chief who appointed the book author justice to the Supreme Court imposed rules of engagement on the soldier husband that resulted in his death.
Every man, woman, and child on this planet endures hardship and struggle as she or he progresses through life. The glorification of this woman’s struggles because she Latina is another effort by the progressive elites to portray themselves as morally superior to the masses. Her willing participation in this media circus is confirmation that she, like her fellow progressive intellectuals, does not believe in the founding fathers concept of equality.
LMAO: She hits on the truth but then denies it.
Does she really think she is on the Supreme Court because she earned her way there?
She is there exactly as an Affirmative Action gift.
Her Socialist. and liberal views just happened to match those of the illegal Kenyan pResident who put her there.
She wants it both ways.
She wants special, lowered standards applied to her because of her gender, race and homeliness, but she wants everybody to pretend that she was held to the same standards as her competitors.
Hate to tell you this, Sonia, but we’ve all been through struggles in our lives....
Subtitle: Being a fat, stupid, lesbian is no way to go through life, unless you become a political hack and get appointed to a job for life to impose liberal tyranny.
