Meese: Obama Risks Impeachment If He Uses Executive Order for Gun Control

Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III declared in an exclusive Newsmax TV interview that President Barack Obama could easily be impeached if he bypassed Congress and enacted gun-control legislation by executive order.

Meese's comments came on the same day President Obama told the White House press corp at the last news conference of his first term that he was reviewing actions, including issuing executive orders, where he could take action without congressional approval to confront gun violence in the nation. Obama said he would present a plan within days.

The options include stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons, and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines, Obama said, conceding that was unsure how such steps could pass Congress.

the House may bring charges (I doubt it), but the Senate will never convict.

This may not affect your argument, but Clinton was impeached. They wouldn’t pull the trigger on conviction in the senate, not impeachment in the house. You may be right that the failure to oust him from office dooms all attempts at impeachment for the foreseeable future. But at least they went so far as to blot Clinton’s reputation by impeaching him, even if the history books will only redound it to his credit.

Obama could be caught on tape robbing a bank and he would never be impeached, and removed from office.

No worries. Boehner will wet his pants around his vagi-gi area and start to cry, but little else.

If you mean the original Constitution, that would be a crime. If it be a random copy within the privacy of his bathroom, for instance, well, that’d only be an outrage. But a high crime? Who knows? It’s not like anyone’s using it.

OK, so I’ll put my ignorance on full display here and ask some questions that I really should already know the answers to.

Can’t Congress simply override these Executive Orders. One thing I’m pretty sure of is that the Executive Branch is not supposed to be legislating. If the Judicial Branch tried to make law I’m quite sure it wouldn’t stand so why would it with Obama?

Secondly why don’t Republicans get vocal on this charade. Ask what Obama has done to actually make the kids safer? Not one damn thing, that’s what. He surrounds himself with children to tug at Americans heartstrings (thus once again byassing their brains) and Republicans act like there’s some actual merit to it. Why don’t they ever fight back?

I cannot believe that this jackass (I can say that because he is a Democrat) is as popular as he is.....He is a disbarred attorney, an impeached president, a felon (lying to congress) a boss who sexually assaulted an intern in his office, and a man who was accused of rape. In my never to be humble opinion, he is trash and should be cast aside as all trash is.

Congress could. But they won't. For one thing, it would take both houses of Congress to do it. For another, the Democrat Senate wants the President to take action against guns because they don't want to risk it. The last time Democrats took action against guns, the Assault Weapon Ban was signed into law on September 13, 1994. And that November, the 'Rats got their clocks cleaned.

They're Republicans, silly.

There.
Fixed it for you.

"South Carolina has two state-sponsored militia battalions. These are NOT national guard troops. These are militia soldiers sponsored by the state. You want to stand at a line in the sand, here’s your chance. We’re taking volunteers."

Good to know, but I am in the People's Utopia of NY, run by Comrade Cuomo, and what a bunch of spineless wimps.
