NY Times s2230 pdf ^ | January 15, 2013 | NY legisfools

Did the New York state legislature just accidentally make it a crime to merely OWN a firearm?

See page 22 of the posted bill, s2230:

§ 41-a. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 265.01-b to 5 read as follows:
6 § 265.01-b Criminal possession of a firearm.
7 A person is guilty of criminal possession of a firearm when he or she:
8 (1) possesses any firearm or;
(2) lawfully possesses a firearm prior to
9 the effective date of the chapter of the laws of two thousand thirteen
10 which added this section subject to the registration requirements of
11 subdivision sixteen-a of section 400.00 of this chapter and knowingly
12 fails to register such firearm pursuant to such subdivision.
13 Criminal possession of a firearm is a class E felony.

57. Severability.

If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this act shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid and after exhaustion of all further judicial review, the judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this act directly involved in the controversy in which the judgment shall have been rendered.

the democrats have been ‘testing hte water’ for a number of years now by blatantly putting forth ‘bold’ proposals that they know the right will be upset about- and when the left saw that the right had NO BACKBONE, they went in al ittle deeper into hte water and hten a little deeper, until we now see them no longer testign hte water, but simply blatantly foisting unconstitutional crap on us knowing full well that NOONE will lift a figner to stop them

NY is all set to trample the cosntitutional right of all it’s citzens, not just hte citzens in large cities, but all aqcross the state now- knowign full well that noone iwll stand up to htem just as noone stood up to them when they outlawed guns in the larger cities- they tested hte water and founf out htat NOONE will EVER hold htem accoutnable for their unconstitutional actions- and when odarhma rammed through his hell-th care- cuomo knew the left no longer had any reason to fear the supreme court or the american people-

We are at a crossroad, and we’d all better practice wavign goodbye to hte freedoms we uised to know- because hte left has been let off it’s leash by the American people and they are free to do whatever the hell they want now-

I should have read further -- an antique firearm is not merely old.

"Antique firearm" means: Any unloaded muzzle loading pistol or revolver with a matchlock, flintlock, percussion cap, or similar type of ignition system, or a pistol or revolver which uses fixed cartridges which are no longer available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade.

The trouble is when you try to explain the similarities between the 2 you get called a “Nut Job” or a “Racist Nutjob”.

So for Hitler it was Jewish people he hated and had killed
so who will it be this time old people, babies, rich people,
white people, Christians?

[[makes it illegal to own a firearm AND not register it per the law]]

however, apparently it’s NOT illegal for cuomo or legislators to violate the citizen’s constitutional rights? He hjould be immediately thrown out of office for FAILURE to protect the peopel he was elected to protect- for violatign hteir constitutional rights- but NY’ers apaprently do NOT cafre that their rights have been violated-

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty.”
Adolph Hitler

They’d better have Secretary of the Interior Not Sure review this language. This looks like cabinet level idiocy.

Sarah Barracuda said: "Republicans and San Francisco usually don’t mix"

The "San Francisco" gun show is held at the Cow Palace which is actually located in Daly City, part of San Mateo County, not San Francisco County. Otherwise, I am sure that it would have been shut down by now.

The trip is about 70 miles each way for me.

[[My condolences, New York. Now, we’ll see a massive exodus of people, I bet.]]

Save your money, you’ll lose- I used to think NY’ers cared, and that they couldn’t possibly be stupid enough to keep electing officials who violagte hteir rights- and that they would most definately stand up for their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS- but WOW was I wrong-

NY’ers coudl put an immediate stop to this unconstitutional crap IF they so chose to by bandign together and REFUSING to pay any more state taxes to a governor who refuses to do his sworn duty- but I’m not holdign my breath thinking that NY’ers have spine enough to do so-

America- your turn is coming- You may think you’re safe because you live in a state that is very lax on gun laws right now, but the brash boldness and blatant disregard for hte constitution displayed in NY’’s bill will be coming to your towns soon- now that NY has gotten away with violating it’s citizen’s constitutional rights, it’s game over for hte rest of the coutnry too- oh there might be a few hold outs, but when the federal govwenrment begins withholdign federal dollars- you governors WILL cave in-

And plenty of Republicans voted for the new NY gun law, which is truly amazing.

Hoodat, it is just amazing how well Rand/Rosenblum understood the tyranny called communism. My son has just read Atlas Shrugged for the third time, and had to remind me who Dr. Ferris was. That is clearly why Rand remains among the most vilified authors in US history by the progressive media. She mocked them with frighteningly accurate prescience. My son (18) noted that Dr. Ferris was the only one of Rand's characters who understood the nature of the war. Ferris decided that the producers couldn't win, and made his fortune attacking Rearden steel, while designing a weapon of some sort.

Sounds like Presidential Science Adviser John Holdren, who knows solar and wind are fairy tales, but has spent most of his forty years attacking nuclear power and arguing that the real solution is to eliminate four fifths of the population. It got Holdren a cushy office paid for by Theresa Kerry's dead conservative first husband, an enormous salary at the Kennedy Center, and a lovely home on Cape Cod. Holdren has rewarded the bag carriers with Solyndra funding, and twenty or thirty other boondoggles, most of which will quietly slip away under Chapter 11 while the investors will walk away, as Kaiser of Solyndra did, with hundreds of millions in clear profit. That was always the game, and anyone familiar with the technology knew it.

How is the average New York cop going to interpret this law?
Will they all be sat down and explained all the intricacies of the law?
