Rep. Kennedy calls for gun control legislation following Newtown shooting

Taunton —

Newly sworn-in U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III is calling for “reasonable” gun control legislation in the aftermath of a mass shooting last month that left 27 dead in Newtown, Conn., including 20 children.

“Now is not the time for bombastic statements or proclamations of what Congress will do,” Kennedy said, responding to National Rifle Association president David Keene’s recent assertion that Congress is unlikely to pass an assault weapons ban.

Kennedy favors such a ban on assault rifles.

The Massachusetts Democrat, who was in Taunton part of the day Monday to tour the General Dynamics facility in Myles Standish Industrial Park, said that “given where we are as a country,” Congress must act to prevent more tragedies like the one in Newtown.

“We have said ‘never again’ so many times,” the freshman legislator said.

Kennedy said he views “reasonable” gun control legislation to include a reinstatement of the federal ban on assault weapons, closing the so-called gun show loophole and requiring stricter identification and background checks for firearms owners.

Such legislation, though, is only one part of the equation, in Kennedy’s view.

“It has to be accompanied by a real conversation about our mental health system,” he said.

Society as a whole, he said, needs to do a better job of diagnosing and treating mental illness.

Yeah nice talk about mental health when Fat Teddy was partly responsible for emptying the asylums.

America had 150 years of no real gun control laws...maybe Dodge City?...

Then in 1931-32 gangsters passed the Sullivan law so that their gangs in NY City would not have to worry about their victims being armed. This is true.

Then in 1946, the feds passed a law banning automatic weapons brought home by GI`s as war trophies, so they "wouldn`t fall inrto criminals` hands" a ploy-a lie-

Then in 1946 Guv Dewey signed a NY State law banmning automatic weapons becauise they could not be used for hunting. a ploy- a lie

Then 1950`s until 1968, Korean and Vietnam vets could bring home automatic weapons legally. This is the step each one in turn toward the infringement of the second amendment-

sorry- Obummer,Feds and cuomo, you traitors, the BUCK STOPS HERE AND NOW!!!

Hmmm. Yes.

May I suggest imprisoning or institutionalizing anyone from eastern Massachusetts bearing the surname of Kennedy? Mental illness surely seems to run in that family.

I’m calling for “Kennedy Control”. Don’t allow them to run for public office, drive, or breed.

Joe Kennedy was a Nazi sympathizer.
JFK wasn’t such a great PT boat commander.
Hmm, something about abandoning the Cuban freedom-fighters at the Bay of Pigs.
Something about Vietnam.
Ted Kennedy sold us out in Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos which led to the torture and deaths of millions of people there, including hundreds of thousands, or perhaps a million children.

Ted killed Mary Jo Kopechne and walked.
Ted cheated on his wife unmercifully.
He tried to sell us out to the Soviets.
Tried to help keep the communists in power in Nicaragua while trying to help them sezie power in El Salvador.

How many Kennedy’s drove drunk and hit things and/or get arrested?

Ted and Chris Dodd hit on every woman in a dress that they could get at.

Kennedy’s educational reforms have failed as a national policy.

Even the cousins got into the act. Skakel’s killing of his girlfriend.

Then there’s the one who crashed his plane, killing himself, his girlfriend and another friend.

The Kennedy family is a curse upon America’s political scene.

It is time that the curse is lifted from our country.

Boy, it sure didn’t take Howdy Doody long to get into the act. This 3rd generation political malingnancy got the “low information” vote in the one congressional district that could have been won by the GOP. But, per usual, the MA GOPE collaborators dropped the ball and now we have this punk.

From the screaming queen Barney Frank to this joke, we just can’t catch a break here in the MA 4th.

This new Kennedy hack is only 32 years sold and now a Rep in Congress! You won’t get him out with dynamite! He will squat there as long as he likes, same as his pervert predecessor Barney

When is this family of gutter refugee rum-runners going to drink themselves into oblivion?

Like roaches and rats they keep reproducing themselves and living on to haunt another generation with their drugs, booze, philandering, lies, and buck-toothed offspring.

As much as I hate to admit this, I think you’re right. I can only hope that the gangsters in RI don’t get nostalgic and convince Patches to give it another go. If that happened there would be adjoining diseased districts in two states.

I have owned numerous Pistols, Rifles and Shotguns most of my life.

My Dad gave me a .22 Rifle from Sears when I was eight years old, over 50 years ago.

In all that time, owning dozens of weapons, I have killed one less person than Ted Kennedy killed just using his Oldsmobile.

What is it about these Kennedy’s?They’re always on the gun control bandwagon when the thing they should be fighting to control is the sale of Alcohol and Illegal drugs.

How many members of that family have been affected by those two problems?
