Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Wednesday said the leftover campaign apparatus from President Barack Obama's re-election bid is more than capable of overpowering the lobbying efforts of the National Rifle Association.
Gibbs said the president may have to return to campaign mode in order to push for new gun policies, suggesting that Obama should barnstorm the country to promote the proposals that the White House will unveil on Wednesday.
"He's got to get out of the White House and travel the country," Gibbs said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "He's got to make his case directly to the people."
Gibbs said Obama's ultra-sophisticated campaign operation could serve as a vital asset in making that case, arguing that the grassroots infrastructure that secured the president two terms can trump any effort by the NRA — despite the pro-gun lobby's claims of a spike in membership since last month's massacre in Newtown, Conn. Vice President Joe Biden reportedly told House Democrats earlier this week that the White House intended to deploy campaign resources to ramp up support for its gun control proposals.
"The president has the most exciting campaign apparatus ever built. It's time to turn that loose," Gibbs said. "It's time to turn that loose for something more than just an election. If the NRA's got a list, then Obama for America has a bigger list."
We’ll see. I have my doubts that the president can win this one.
As much as I hate to admit it, Gibbs is right on with this. These slimeballs are organized and can get the low-lifes out to vote and spread their Nazi-like propaganda.
I think the thing they are overlooking, however, is that this isn’t a Dem/Rep issue. This crosses both parties, as there are many Dems who won’t support gun control proposals.

That is what I was going to point out. RTBA is a constitutional issue, so while they may think they can get people in front of the cameras, or to persuade a certain type of voting in each state, there won’t be the ability to get a constitutional amendment passed.
State level laws have been shot down at the supreme court level time after time, so even those state level laws will fail.
I would think there would be anything but silence. If you plan on marching on DC armed, you better be ready to go all the way.

An ideal outcome here would be for Obama to spend the next two years pushing for his “gun measures” only to fail with the current congress - who are already looking ahead to 2014 - and in doing so, ignite the pro 2A passions that hand the Democrats a minority in both houses of congress relegating Obeyme to lame duck in January 2015. Icing on this perfect cake would be tying the administration up in court challenges to any illegal EO’s further limiting their bandwidth to destroy anymore of America.

Sorry, I wish I were as optimistic. We are no longer a Constitutional Republic. We are not quite Chavez yet, in between the twilight zone.
The Constitution works only if/when all parties and governments agree to its execution. The way DC’s operating it’s just a piece of paper, we had lost even without going through a majority vote.
It worked so well in the health care debate, remember? Every time he went on TV to berate Americans for not agreeing with him, it’s popularity went down.
He may have won in the end (by cheating) but it never got more popular. He won’t get a single gun control floor vote in congress from this.
Conservatives and supporters of the 2nd amendment the Obama regime is using the 2nd amendment argument to blame gun owners for its inability to deal with the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings commited in areas under their solid control using illegally obtained firearms. Their solution to those inner city problems is to remove those rights provided by the constitution to have and bear arms from all US citizens.
None of those 19 so called “reforms” and unconstitutional efforts being edicted by who some call an emporer do not deal with those issues. They won’t because instead of creating a uniformly democratic society where every citizen has an equal voice no matter what their race or ethnicity.
Their policies have grouped races and ethnic groups by gerrymandering congressional districts where much of this criminal activity occurs.
GOPES {goverment of the people (republican party) elites} see this issue as a 3rd rail because most of it is black on black or illegal vs illegal (Mexican) activity . GOPES are also afraid to say that policy has also increased racial tension but GOPES accept this because of the influence of mainline socialist media which would be accusing them of “racism” if they dare to question it by state controlled media. Which gets protected by the very constitution they seek to destroy.
Considering that the media monopolists are part of his apparatus, he may be right.

I'd settle for a million without arms, but with signs. However, none of the major gun rights organizations seem interested in pushing mass demonstrations. Instead they are playing the call your congressman game and trying to fight the coming regulations. This is going to result in losing further ground, with the only question being how much ground. The left consistently mores the boundaries more toward state authoritarianism. We do need a people power take back the streets strategy, but no Martin Luther King for the second Amendment has appeared.

Gibbs, you couldn’t be more wrong. The NRA’s membership swelled in the past month by 250K. Can you say the same about the Obama’s campaign thugs?

But it's not just the NRA that is involved - it's Gun Owners of America, Front Sight, and hundreds of national, state and regional organizations representing 80 million American gun owners. I am a member of several of these groups and we are far better organized - and motivated - than the Republican Party was last year.
Our freedom is at stake.
And I believe that the vast majority of law-abiding firearms owners in America would agree with me when I say:
I will NEVER, EVER give up my guns to anyone, no matter what. Take them by force, if you can. But I WILL NOT COMPLY with any law that violates the Constitution or my natural rights as a human being.
Based on congressional district, Romney won the electoral college. In that vein, I don’t see Obama being as successful as he thinks.
If the power of persuasion does not work they will use the persuasion of power. Tyranny.
I have... but gun rights are a different order of magnitude in the minds of people who care about them. This isn't Obamacare, this is taking away people's guns. People care enough about this issue that if a law does get passed, they won't obey it, and in the meantime they will do their level best to end the political careers of the legislators that passed it.
There are a lot of single-issue voters on the 2nd Amendment. The fight this time around is an entirely different kettle of fish.

The President wants it. I think that America is done. All I can do is pray for my children and teach them to shoot.
