BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --
In a couple of weeks, Alabama lawmakers head back to the state capital and it remains unclear if they'll jump into the national gun debate.
One month ago, 20 children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. The massacre has spurred national dialogue about gun control.
Alabama lawmakers met Monday to discuss the upcoming session, however lawmakers and those in high government positions are focusing their efforts on other issues, also a part of that same debate, they hope will protect innocent victims.
"We're addressing the disease at the end and it's always something that needs to be addressed at the beginning,"Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice, Roy Moore said.
A beginning, Moore says, has nothing to do with guns themselves, but rather a person's spiritual life.

At the state level, the immediate response should be to assert the 10th Amendment assertion that guns and ammunition produced in the state, solely for sale and use in the state, are up to the state, not the federal government, to regulate.
Follow that up by joining with Wyoming and Texas to resolve that any federal agent or officer who attempts to carry out unconstitutional gun regulation in Alabama will be subject to arrest on a felony charge of civil rights violation.
Yup. They need to address it. Just say NO! We are not going to criminalize law abiding citizens for partaking in legal activities. And, if you try to impose fed restrictions, they will not be enforced in the state. That’s why it is imperative that you not only contact your fed reps, pressure needs to be put on the politicians at the state and local level as well. Contact the gov and let him/her know in no uncertain terms that further restrictions will NOT be tolerated/acceptable. City councils, mayors, assemblymen, county supervisors. If they are in any position to put forth new restrictions or propositions, tell them NO!
