Human beings are almost universally receptive to impartial facts, and people will therefore support any course of action that is inherently right and effective. If the truth were on the side of the enemies of the Second Amendment, they would not need to lie to the public along with fellow members of Congress.

(1) Misuse of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt money to influence an election
(2) Solicitation of money, volunteer time, and corporate contributions under the fraudulent premise that firearm misuse kills 12 or 13 children a day. Dianne Feinstein, Jerrold Nadler, and many of their associates signed their names to this falsehood.
(3) A Form 990 tax return that told the IRS that the group had not tried to influence legislation even though its express purpose was to demand so-called commonsense gun laws
A group that tells its own donors and volunteers that its mission is to promote public safety, turns around and uses the donations for lobbying and electioneering, and then tells the IRS that it spent no money on the latter activities is simply not credible.

Just imagine what the mainstream media would do with a documented quote from the NRA, suggesting that we capitalize on the public’s confusion in order to get our way...like this:

Looking at the numbers from 2006, 2009 and 2010 (did not find 2000), the actual number appears to be between 7 and 9 per day.
12 may be too high, but not by that much. Does anyone have data that indicates a more accurate count for 2000?

From what I found in 2000, the actual number is about 6.5 legal minors per day (including older teens whom few people think of as children). Under the legal definition of a child, though, the MMM lied outright.

Have you ever seen “Ten rounds, rapid” from a 1905 Lee-Enfield? The Brits didn’t bother to go semiautomatic because the Enfield was that good. The Germans, during World War I, thought they were under fire from machine guns, and they would have been better off if they had been. Each Enfield bullet was aimed individually.

Because gun control is a broken idea that doesnt work. You cant prop up broken ideas with the truth. So its lie, lie, and lie some more. The Nazis did it that way. The communists did it that way. The Democrats do it that way. And the anti-gun crowd does it that way.
To call it a lie is an understatement. It helps to understand socialist-leftists if you classify their belief system as a cultish religious faith. And this classification is downright accurate.
To begin with, their beliefs are a perverse parody of Christianity, but with man at the center of the universe instead of God. As such, more than anything else, they want to supplant God in all things, even in the Bible.
However this grotesque corruption actually holds them together, because once the basic axiom is accepted, of man being superior to God, then the Bible acts as a guidebook to their bizarre theories.
And they embrace these theories with a rigid fanaticism, as would any “true believer” convert in a cult. Likewise they are intolerant of any other points of view, that any knowledge or information to contradicts their faith is to be disregarded as evil.
Much of their faith is founded in a twisted view of the Book of Genesis in the Bible. It forms the basis of such things as radical environmentalism, the elitism of socialists as “the chosen people” destined to rule over everyone else, and their downright weird notion of the equality of all men, or at least everyone else, ruled over by the elite.
The idea of dichotomy is essential to their mindset. That is, for example, that everything they believe is right and true and unchanging; but what anyone else believes is wrong and evil and must be changed. Dichotomy excuses some of their foulest abuses, such as embracing slavery (for others), racism (of other people), and that individuality is the enemy, to the point where individuals mean nothing and are expendable, compared to mankind as a whole.
They really do imagine themselves as a collective god-like being, who defines the universe and all within it. As a group.
So look at them with the distrust you would of someone else who embraced a tyrannical, violent, hate-filled, and egocentric belief system. Such people for the most part deserve to be institutionalized, because when they have political power, it is the madmen that rule the asylum.
A belief which leads to the depraved "utilitarianism" of the left -- wherein non-elite individuals who are capable of productive work and pay taxes are of more worth to the state than are non-elite individuals who are too young, too infirm or too elderly to pay taxes and, instead, consume the state's resources.
Because they are scumbag fascists. I thought that was self evident.
While normal people can despise them for their pure mendacity - I certainly do - the fact is that they can no more refrain from this than a snake can refrain from being a snake. Do not expect to reason with these people. They aren't about that, and pretending that they are about that is all a part of what they really are about.
