Almost there: Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President, and their families...
Petitions.WhiteHouse.gov ^

Posted on 01/16/2013 3:46:14 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

Only 755 more signatures needed with 6 days to spare!

It will reach 25,000 tonight.

Time to start flooding The Drudge Report with tips to link to the petition.

The goal is 100,000 signatures before the petition closes.

If Drudge links to it, it will happen.

“This new threshold applies only to petitions created from this point forward and is not retroactively applied to ones that already exist.”

Even if you get everyone in the Country to sign, what makes you think emperor 0bama will eliminate his security?

While everyone is at it:

I wonder what the origin is for Americans' inordinate faith in petitions. Unless they're required by law, they're meaningless.

The petition illustrates the absurdity of gun-free zones.

Rush always talks about illustrating absurdity by being absurd, and that's all this is.

This petition implements RULES FOR RADICALS #5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon" against Obama.

If gun-free zones make people safe, then why don’t we declare the immediate vicinity of the President and Vice-President to be gun-free zones and send the Secret Service home? Or are gun-free zones good enough for our kids, but not good enough for our overlords? It is the height of arrogance and hypocrisy for politicians to surround themselves with armed guards while insisting that our children be soft targets.

There are 8 more days to get the required number of signatures on the petition

The Alinskyites are killing us with Rules for Radicals #12, right now:

RULE #12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

How do we fight back?

By being nice?

And "holding ourselves to a higher standard" is just the flip side of Rule 4:

RULE #4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,0

We don't care about him or his response.

We are using Alinsky's Rules for Radicals# 5 ("Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.") against him.

We are illustrating the absurdity of gun free zones, and the arrogance and hypocrisy of politicians who hide behind armed guard while dictating that we and our children be soft targets.

Is that too complicated for you?

It may well do that, but I got the impression that the commenter was excited that something was actually going to come from it.

I’ll sign a petition to eliminate the petition foolishness. One thing to observe about these daily petitions n this forum is that we never hear anything about them after the initial post urging everyone to sign ‘em. For now, signing one of these petitions is submitting your name to the enemy list which processed by the IRS.

“Is that too complicated for you?”

Wow. Biting sarcasm.

I’ve got a question for you: Why play their game?
You won’t change their point of view and your petition doesn’t “stick it to them” in any way. They don’t give a crap about your petition and since virtually no one will see it, the ridicule is ineffective. If you do get the signatures, some office underling gets to tell you to buzz off.

Have you contacted your elected representatives at the state and federal level? That is your only way to actually work the system.

Many times.

They care as much as Ubamugabe, so what's your point?

“They care as much as Ubamugabe, so what’s your point?”

Well, then I guess you are screwed. And being unpleasant to me doesn’t help the problem. And neither will your useless petition, but don’t let me hold you back!
