I don’t judge them. When in Rome...
It is a little bit arbitrary which animals we are completely comfortable raising for slaughter, and which we would get thrown into prison for killing. Are pigs much less intelligent than cats? And if intelligence is the threshold metric, where is the line drawn?
I don’t care if this is their culture. It’s barbaric. Eat fish and chicken instead. HORRIBLE!
I generally order spicy fried squid; I do not order the chicken chow mein.
Meat is meat, as long as they were vegetarian cats.
What’s wrong with eating pussies?
*My best Chinese imprssion* “You like feline Kung Pao?”
Not allowed in the USA.
Go veggie!
1. I don’t think they appear on the menu as “cat”, so customers are getting lied to.
2. I don’t think they were bred for slaughter. They were strays or somebody’s pet that were taken. Impossible to know now which were stolen pets and which were strays, probably.
So, even if there is no distinction based on intelligence or whatever, there is enough “yuck” here to disapprove of.
I don't find the idea of eating cat appealing and I don't want my kung pao chicken to meow at me, but on the other hand I certainly don't want other people telling me not to eat pork.
And my friends with pet rabbits don't like me calling one Hasen and the other one Pfeffer.
Voila....Another protein transfer averted. Actually the cats were part of an aid package to North Korea. A stray cat or dog or an unwanted pet is not a concept known in Asia. Viva la differance?
I don’t advocate it here...we don’t need to eat cats and I hear some people say they make great pets. But I don’t want muzzies telling me I can’t enjoy baby back ribs so I won’t tell the Chinese they can’t eat cats.
Another kitty ping...
My son is from Changsha.
I will judge them on being inhumane in their treatment. I eat meat, & I understand that different cultures do eat things I wouldn’t, but I expect anyone who raises animals for slaughter to do it in the kindest way possible. They are FEELING creatures. They should have adequate food & water, & sanitary living conditions.
