From what I’ve read, antibiotics in Asia are usually bought on the black market. (I’m referring to poorer countries, not Japan) If those infected do not take the full course of treatment or are not cleared by a doctor, a very resistant strain will take root. It costs an average of $250,000 to treat ONE person with a resistant strain, as TB treatment usually lasts 9 MONTHS. If it is a resistant strain, that person has to stay quarantined in a hospital-like facility until treatment is done.
