BEREZNIKI, Russia A Russian court on Wednesday turned down an attempt by an imprisoned Pussy Riot band member to defer serving her sentence for hooliganism until her preschool son becomes a teenager.
Maria Alekhina asked the court in Berezniki, a Urals Mountain city near her prison, to let her serve the rest of her two-year sentence after her 5-year-old son turns 14. She argued that separation from her young child now would do irreparable psychological damage to him.
Alekhina and two other female members of the punk band were convicted last year of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for an anti-Vladimir Putin protest in Russias main cathedral. One of the women has had her sentence suspended on appeal.
Judge Galina Yefremova rejected Alekhinas petition, saying the court that sentenced her had already taken the childs existence into account.
Alekhina told the court Wednesday that while she wanted her sentence deferred, she still refused to plead guilty.
No one will force me to say Im guilty I have nothing to repent for, she said.

Finally a band with a name I can embrace. Too bad they are mud fence ugly.
President You Didn’t Build That turns green with jealousy of Vladimir Putin.
The little I read about these dopes is that they did some bad stuff in a church. I may not like Putin...but he wasn’t there...they were.
And the POS who is a mother and NOW SOOOOOO concerned about her kid? Give me a break.
I’ll just say too bad, so sad for the squealing feminists (and all that entails). You got the attention you were looking for. Enjoy.
Dave Barry agrees this is a good name for a rock band

Bat sh!t crazy maybe
I think that Putin is sending a message, that while Christianity is despised in other countries, in Russia, the Russian Orthodox church will be treated with respect, as it is part and parcel to Russia.
I think they have a much better understanding of the separation of church and state than Americans do these days.
The orgy in the museum was worse. You can find the pictures on line but I will not post them.
Totally agree - these dingbats got just what they deserved. Stew in your own jerky petard.
Look son, here I am pregnant with at an orgy!
Here here !!!
Looks like Putin is an authoritarian Russian Nationalist that understands the end game of the degenerating society progressives like Pussy Riot, and the higher value of Russian Orthodox Christianity, maybe because he's been there before.
From his actions, it would be easy to prove Putin authoritarian, one who seeks publicity, and Russia/Slavic culturally centric, and very hard to prove him a Communist.
From the polls that I have seen, if you believe them, Putin is quite popular in Russia. After the turbulent years following the collapse of the Soviet Union, to which Yelstin was ill equipped to handle, Putin is perceived to be a capable leader at calming the Nation.
A bit late on the responsibility.
