Despair Inside the Beltway: Reflections on the upcoming second inauguration of President Obama.
American Spectator ^ | 1.14.13 | Arnold S. Trebach

Posted on 01/18/2013 2:24:54 AM PST by IbJensen

The second inauguration of our sitting president will take place this coming weekend as this is being written. It is a time of great happiness for most of my neighbors and friends inside the beltway, indeed for most people in the country.

But I find myself in despair for our beloved country. It is quite likely that a large minority of the nation’s citizens agree with my pessimistic mood. The reasons for that despair are not difficult to discern.

Our beloved country is in terrible condition. The awful evidence is easily seen everywhere, for those willing to look. Our economic situation is unsustainable. Yes, the government of the richest country in the history of the world is, by all reliable measures, broke. Our national government cannot pay its bills and every day sinks deeper in debt because it is addicted to spending at extravagant rates. We are on our way to becoming the sad equivalent of Greece or another failed state.

There is plenty of blame to pass around for this condition and it should be shared by Democrats and Republicans, by George Bush and by Barack Obama, but the major part of the blame must be placed squarely on the shoulders of Mr. Obama and his administration. He has been in power for four years and he promised that he would deal with all of our major problems. He has not done so.

To put fine point on the matter, our president terrifies me, even though during most of my life I have been a liberal Democrat and voted for him in his first election.

If viewed honestly his first term has been an unmitigated disaster.

Obama is the epitomy of evil and corruptness and is a pathological liar and an absolute phony American!

The guy who wrote this article ought to be ashamed of himself for voting for Obama the first time. Anyone with any sense knew a man that voted present more than half the time, that had no credible experience, that opened up sealed records on his opponents was not fit to be president. He, Axelrod, and all his cohorts are the most corrupt people our nation has had to endure. No morals, values, hates this nation and for the rest of the people that voted for this man may God forgive your sin. You voted for your children and grandchildren to be schackled with a debt they will never pay off and a sociopathic president that is clearly out of control.

Beyond repair. WHY do you think they want our guns and poison our children's minds?

I have been in despair since the democrats rammed socialized government take over of my health carein the dead of night.
John Robberts added to that. The whole thing could collapse any day now, no one knows when that day will be but we all know its going to happen.

I forgive the author and so many others who thought Obama was going to do so many good things during his first term, but at least they admit how wrong they were. We have all made bad choices, particularly in the voting booth. It takes a real grownup to admit he/she was wrong but willing to make things right.

The ones I don't get are those who see this country going to hell in a handbasket, but voted for Obama a second time and STILL support him. They have to know they were wrong, but they won't admit it. They will continue to blindly worship this tyrant even as their lives are reduced to utter ruin.

I have friends who are university graduates, normally intelligent sensible people, but when it comes to Obama, they are blithering idiots. It's like being in a cult with these people. They have surrendered all common sense and reason, as well as their free will, to follow this false prophet. They can't see that he is bringing them and us to ruin. They have to know they are headed for destruction. Why are they so willing to fall into the abyss for their god?

The second inauguration is a historic event. The best parallel I found is the Second Wave of the Pearl Harbor attack. While the First Wave’s 183 airplanes were assigned to attack the battleships, carriers, and airfields, doing a substantial amount of damage, the 171 airplanes of the Second Wave were tasked among other things with finishing off anything that survived the First Wave. This coming Monday marks the beginning of the Second Wave attack on our country.

I could not agree more. I have, acutally had, some longtime friends that I have not even spoken to since the re-election. I can no longer tolerate them, they killed us. They used to scoff at me because of my strident anti-0bama opinions (all based in fact). But I love my country more than friends, more than family. And they will never get that.

Much of Daniel Greenfield’s latest essay addresses these ideas.

Truth, Right, and Wrong mean little to a Liberal.

I have former friends that I now avoid.

Obama voters are beyond help.

There is no dealing with them. They cannot carry an intelligent conversation about this POS.They are in denial.

My sister is a hard core liberal. She will not even entertain the notion that she could be wrong about guns, GW, etc. It’s like talking to a brick.
Fortunately she lives in England and can’t vote here.

Ditto. I have given up on Lefties as friends completely including my parents. You just know that the country is dividing. Conservatives understand the effect that present actions have on the future. The Leftists want to live in delusion and they will never wake up until disaster hits them in the face.

Why didn’t this author publish his views about how awful Obama has been BEFORE the election? How can well-educated people ignore Rev. Wright, Frank Marshall Davis, Obama’s failure in the Illinois Senate and US Senate, the Judiciary’s failure to vet him, etc. etc. etc.?
