Fast and Furious Gun Found at Murder Scene Was Purchased By Embattled ATF Supervisor

By Katie Pavlich 12/19/2012

A Fast and Furious gun found at the murder scene of Mexican beauty queen Maria Susana Flores, appears to have been purchased by embattled ATF supervisor George Gillett. Flores was used as a human shield before she was shot and killed by Mexican cartels during a shootout with the Mexican military.

According to documents obtained by Senator Chuck Grassley, it appears Gillett purchased a number of different firearms at a gun dealership in Phoenix as part of Operation Fast and Furious. It also appears Gillett lied on 4473 forms by using an address that does not lead to his residence, which is a felony.

Grassley has sent a letter to the Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz asking for further investigation. From the letter:

” Grassley has sent a letter to the Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz asking for further investigation.

From the letter:

Documentation appears to indicate that during Operation Fast and Furious, Mr. Gillett made multiple firearm purchases at a Federal Firearm Licensee (FFL) in Phoenix. According to the forms, Mr. Gillett appears to have purchased weapons on December 15, 2009,[2] January 5, 2010,[3] and January 7, 2010.[4] Documents show the residence listed on the Firearms Transaction Record (Form 4473) for two of the gun purchases was the local Phoenix ATF office. For the third purchase, Gillett listed a commercial shopping center in Phoenix as his residence.[5] Clearly, the addresses on the forms do not accurately and truthfully reflect Gillett’s actual residence in Phoenix.

Lying on a Form 4473 is a felony and can be punished by up to five years in prison, in addition to fines. Many individuals who were arrested in Fast and Furious were charged for lying on the Form 4473. Jaime Avila, Jr. recently plead guilty to a variety of charges, including making false statements in connection with the acquisition of a firearm, and his initial arrest just after Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s murder was for giving a false address on Form 4473.

One of the most troubling aspects of this new information is that one of the weapons listed as having been purchased by Gillett was recently recovered in Sinaloa, Mexico, the same weekend and in the same area as a shootout between the Mexican military and drug cartel members in Sinaloa, Mexico.

The January 7, 2010, purchase included an FN Herstal 57 Caliber pistol. According to documents, this weapon was recently recovered in an attempted homicide in between Caitime and Mocorito in the Guamuchil area of Sinaloa, Mexico.[6] Mexico’s CENAPI requested the trace from ATF’s National Tracing Center on November 29, 2012, and an initial trace was completed on December 4, 2012.[7] Another trace on the weapon was completed on December 10, 2012, indicating that the purchaser of the weapon was the former ASAC of ATF’s office in Phoenix, George Gillett.[8]

During his OIG investigation of Operation Fast and Furious, Horowitz found Gillett’s judgement and management seriously deficient.”

December 14, 2012 ~ Newtown happened. December 19, 2012 the story about the ATF weapon killing the Mexican beauty queen happened.

Obviously ATF and White House aides knew long before 12/19 that the story was coming out.

Which certainly raises some questions about why the 12/14 event happened.

Certainly feeds the idea that the Obama Regime engineered all of it.

Records show the gun was purchased in January 2010 by George Gillett, the former No. 2 in the ATF office in Phoenix. Gillett now works at ATF headquarters in Washington as a liaison to the federal Bureau of Prisons.

ATF Ignored Death Threats, Tried to Frame Whistleblower Agent to Cover Corruption

Katie Pavlich
News Editor, Townhall

Jay Dobyns is a father, husband and 25-year highly respected and highly decorated Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Special Agent.

...”When Dobyns essentially “blew the whistle” on Newell, pointing out his failures to address violent death threats against a federal agent, he was retaliated against. Newell dismissed the threats and then covered up his blatant dismissal of those threats within the Phoenix Field Office.

.....”When Dobyns reported the incident to both ATF and Newell. He asked for an investigation into the case. Newell not only refused to investigate, calling the incident “just scorching,” but allowed his subordinates, including Gillett, to attempt to frame Dobyns, accusing him of purposely burning down his own home with his family inside, has named him as a suspect and is investigating him. Newell conspired to destroy and fabricate evidence to “prove” his case. Emails, witness testimony, phone conversations and other documentation show the ATF Phoenix Field Divisions’ intentions, led by Newell, were to frame Dobyns, yet Newell denied under oath any involvement in this activity. His subordinates Gillett and ATF Tucson Group Supervisor over Operation Wide Receiver Charles Higman, also denied any attempts to frame Dobyns under oath, despite evidence showing otherwise.”

Actually, she was killed November 24 so had nothing to do with Newtown. She had a long history of being involved with drug gangs so it was really no great surprise she was with them when this happened. A total waste but that was her choice.

Is is correct that Soetero was a state senator when he made his vicious remarks opposing a state bill which would have outlawed the practice of leaving completely viable babies to die naked on gurneys parked in broom closets? He has also stated that he wouldn't inflict the 'punishment' of babies on Wookie's daughters. This stuff needs to be sent viral, over and over.

my point was the story about where the gun came from ~ not when she was killed.

you knew that though ~ couldn't miss it in fact ~ so, hot on the heels of Newtown, in the rain shadow so to speak, the story about where the gun came from was released.

That pretty much buried it didn't it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have our first ATF headquarters nominee for the guy most likely to be thrown under the bus to cover for his bosses.

George Gillette, being the lowest man on the Project Gunwalker totem pole, suspected something unusual when four men in sunglasses and black suits picked him up by his arms and legs and one of them said, “Lanny sent us.”

Central figure in ‘Gunrunner’ controversy refuses to talk to Examiner.

A central figure in the growing Project Gunrunner controversy not only declined to speak to the Seattle Gun Rights Examiner this morning, but abruptly hung up when asked about a meeting reportedly held earlier this week by other officials of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

George Gillette, assistant special agent in charge in ATF’s Phoenix field office, returned a call placed by this column to get his perspective on what appears to be a growing scandal that is now being covered by CBS, Fox News, the Washington Post and others. But he cut the call short rather than respond to a question about the reported ATF gathering Monday.

Gillette said he was not at the meeting, could not discuss any details and quickly ended the call. There are unconfirmed reports from several sources that Gillette has hired an attorney; one of the issues he could have put to rest.

Okay, this tracks with the report I had that Gillette had lawyered up and the rumor that he had approached Grassley for protection. Mr. Gillette, it seems, is the designated sacrificial lamb. Makes sense.

Fast and Furious: Obama's ATF Director Choice a "Slap in the Face"

By Katie Pavlich

1/18/2013

... Issa said in a statement. “Jones was first brought into the job of ATF Acting Director in the middle of the Fast and Furious scandal after Justice Department officials had falsely denied reckless conduct and allegations by his predecessor that there was an effort underway to shield the Department’s senior political appointees from the scandal. Because of the numerous ATF mistakes during his tenure as Acting Director pertaining to Fast and Furious, his nomination is a slap in the face to the family of fallen Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Mexican citizens whose murder has been linked to Fast and Furious weapons, and ATF whistleblowers whom he failed to support.”

Jones is notorious within ATF for retaliating against Fast and Furious whistleblowers. In July 2012, Jones warned ATF agents not to "jump their chain of command" and said if they did there would be "consequences." Issa sent Jones a letter the same month, warning about retaliation.
