Yeah, I’m here...
...and FYI, Rush’s site (especially the Stack of Stuff...I ain’t got time to try ‘em all) has a case of Load Error.
Sheesh, with all the grief I’ve had this month with the internet at The Homestead, all I need is to come to work and get this stuff....
Hi UVNV. You know, I had never seriously considered buying a gun, but now I’m doing it. I took the NRA Basic Handgun class yesterday, and my instructor is meeting me at a local range next Thursday for firing qualification. Then I’ll buy a handgun (not sure which one yet). Here in Colorado, registration of guns is prohibited, so there will only be the background check paperwork. We have concealed-carry here, but I’m not doing that, at least not yet. I need the gun for home defense.
Oh, so only white men from the South care about the 2nd Amendment? Well, my class yesterday consisted of two people, both women, neither from the South, and the other lady was black.
You should consider getting your concealed carry license before 0bama makes it harder...doesn’t mean you have to use it.
Hope Rush mentions this:
Joe “Manti” Biden was at a golf course 1/4 mile away from the one-room schoolhouse in the old Amish community of Nickel Mines, in the village of Bart Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where 10 children (girls) were shot and 5 died?
The only thing that happened in the Biden family on October 2 2006 was news that Beau Biden failed his bar exam 3 times.
The closest golf course to the one-room schoolhouse is the Moccasin Run Golf Club, Chester, PA about 5 miles away. Nice small family run course that opened in 1988. Call them and ask if Biden played there.
I will save you the trouble, they said no. The owner was very friendly and laughed it off. He checked his data base on his computer to be sure (as he was laughing) and sure enough no Biden ever been there. Said he would of remembered that.
He also confirmed he is the closest golf course to the one-room school house and next one would be in quarryville about 10-15 miles away.
You would think Joe “Manti” Biden would of mentioned it before or in his book. But no, now he stands on the graves of Amish children to make a point.
Joe “Manti” Biden never played college football and was not a 1/4 mile away from the schoolhouse shooting. Them are the facts.
That’s a good thought, Clint. I think you’re right.
Do you know what gun/guns you will be firing with your instructor next week?
Have a good and blessed weekend Everyone!:)=^..^=
...especially Clint’s point on the CCL.
(I dimly recall something about Colorado being Open Carry at least Once Upon A Time, but give those fruits & nuts from Boulder/Denver enough slack, and they’ll tie it around your neck.)
As far as chosing a handgun, I’d suggest you find a gunshop associated with a firing range so that you can find something that “fits” you by actually firing the thing.
(My personal pet handgun is a 1911A1, which Grandma could only handle if I put it on a gun carriage, and her .380 Auto absolutely disappears into my hand....)
In an hour after the ping!
Glad to hear you have joined the ranks of the free.

dadgome FR is slower than Hillary w/ a new thought
I think several handguns, including a .22, .380, 9mm, and a .45 so I can get an idea which one I like best. Also maybe a rifle.
This is great that Holder is in the limelight for F&F during the current debate on guns.
Clint’s right: best to HAVE YOUR CCW/CHL, in case you want to carry, as 0scumbag&Co’s probably going to make it *more difficult* to get, state-by-state, if they can. They’re talking about lengthy/costly exams now, every 5yrs here in PA, instead of just auto-renewal. I’m good until mid-2016, but I’d bet that ‘things’ are going to change by then.
Thanks, UVNV. Yes, Colorado is still Open Carry. Thanks for the advice on choosing a handgun. My instructor is going to take me gun shopping, which I really appreciate, since this is all new to me.
From my brief experience in handling several guns yesterday, I think the .380 might be best for me, and I’ll bet I could barely lift your 1911A1! I appreciate any suggestions you, Clint, and the other gun experts here want to make.
.22 is too small and .45 is too big for a gal IMHO.
9mm semi-auto is your best choice but it too may be a little strong for you. The .380 is a little under powered but may be your first choice.
Thank you, carriage-hill; I’m sure you’re right. That’s why I’m buying a gun now. By the way, my instructor says they’re flying off the store walls right now, and it could be a while before I can even get whichever one I decide on! Not to mention the ammo...
Ammo is a real problem right now.
It is getting difficult to even find .22 ammo.
If this caller is tired of politics, why doesn’t he just turn off his radio?
Thanks, Clint! The .380 in class yesterday did feel really comfortable in my hand. I’ll have a better idea once I’ve been to the range.
Has Rush been mentioning this sticky fact?

I love my 9mm
bag guy....not so much
I just got a load of .50cal and .45cal ACP, after 2 week wait.
Here’s some places, which have product and are shipping:
As a fill-in while you’re waiting for handgun/ammunition delivery, you might check out one of the Home Defense pump shotguns.
Nothing fancy (or expensive), ammo’s still realitively available and the only thing I can imagine with more Morale Effect would be a deck gun off a light cruiser.
(Only issue is the kick, which takes some gettin’ used to...Grandma’s got a 12ga pump gun on the back porch that backs her up about three feet per shot.)
ad guy, you crack me up!
Do I recall correctly that you’re in Hawaii now? Do you have a lot of restrictive gun laws in that liberal paradise?
I see “out of stock” on most websites.
If we are all assumed to be inherently racist, then why bother trying to not be a racist. We might as well just go full out racist!
Now that you mention it, my instructor did mention that a shotgun is the best for home defense. It just sounds so big and scary (the idea, I mean), and your description confirms my initial impression!
no..Phoenix in the back yard of one sherrif Joe
only been to Hawaii once when I sailed there and back
back in the day when I had hair and it had color
I had to shop around and settle for some different (185gr vs 230gr) loads for the .45cal Cor-Bon HPs, but I got plenty; the .50cal was no problem at 335gr.
Before these kind gals gave me a little one-on-one tutoring, the same thing that happens to Grandma was happening to me whenever I fired my beautiful Stoger 12 ga hammerless double-barreled coach gun, and my upper arms were black and blue. Now, even after firing 40 to 60 rounds over the course of a fine day at the range, I'm fine ... Featherweight loads also help, but aren't as much fun! I LIKE the kick!!
Oh Noes! 21 Chocolate indictments!
Ray Nagin indicted!
Oh, somehow I got the wrong impression. I thought you’d moved there. I do recall you living in Arizona, which is at least a red state. And it does have Sheriff Joe, a big plus.
