Democrats Vote to Exclude Non-Union Construction Workers for Hurricane Sandy Work
FoxNation ^ | 1/18/13 | Labor Union Report

A bill that was authored by an Ironworkers’ union organizer to expand union-only Project Labor Agreements–to include Hurricane Sandy cleanup and reconstruction–passed the New Jersey Senate on Monday along party lines 23-13.

The Ironworkers’ union organizer who drafted the pro-union bill, Steven Sweeney, also happens to be the president of the New Jersey Senate and recently accused New Jersey Governor Chris Christie of “praying” for Hurricane Sandy to hit New Jersey.

As it turns out, though, unions must be counting their blessing with the New Jersey’s Senate passage of S. 2425 which adds to an already-existing discriminatory PLA laws in New Jersey:

When will a state pass a bill that pays for disaster relief -- but excludes any of the money going to any union members?

Would that be a terrible thing that would elicit much national outrage?

The FOOL republicans in the congress who passed Sandy Relief should have saw this coming and made it a condition that all work is open to ALL companies (union and non-union)

All funds for the New Jersey clean-up should come out of Christie’s monthly food budget.

To all:

You might want to pay close attention to your auto insurance bill.

My wife brought to my attention that our latest auto insurance bill includes a $2 increase to be used for this relief effort. Now that just P.O.s me to no end. I told her to pay the bill minus the $2.

I dare them to give me a hard time about it.

And we taxpayers in other States have to pay for it. Too bad our representatives can’t (won’t) do something to ensure our money is spent wisely when these relief fund bills come up.

Could be considered restraint of trade.

Contracts or combinations that tend, or are designed, to eliminate or stifle competition, create a Monopoly, artificially maintain prices, or otherwise hamper or obstruct the course of trade as it would be carried on if it were left to the control of natural economic forces.

As used in the Sherman Anti-Trust Act (15 U.S.C.A. § 1 et seq.), unreasonable restraints of trade are illegal per se and interfere with free competition in business and commercial transactions. Such restraint tends to restrict production, affect prices, or otherwise control the market to the detriment of purchasers or consumers of goods and services. A restraint of trade that is ordinarily reasonable can be rendered unreasonable if it is accompanied by a Specific Intent to achieve the equivalent of a forbidden restraint.

Great.

Question: Do you expect a court to look at what New Jersey just did and call that a "restraint of trade"?

I wouldn’t expect any court that has a sitting democrat appointee to do anything to uphold the Constitution or the laws when it concerns democrats and unions.

Having served as a volunteer for people ruined in hurricane disasters, I feel truly sorry for the people in need of recovery. It won’t happen with Northeastern unions in total control of labor. A shortage of overpriced labor is the last thing they need. It’s cruel. Rubbing rock salt in the wounds of desparate people.
