(Algerian) hostages in exchange for two US prisoners

This is from the Spanish press. It says that AQ is demanding the release of two US prisoners, one of them being the blind sheik, Abdul Rahmann, and the other being a Pakistani named Afiya Sadiqi or something to that effect.

I'd trust any foreign press more than ours at this point, unfortunately.

So foreign travel as an American is out of the question for the next four years. Benghazi is a noun and a verb.........

Sorry, you’ll have to go to the website if you read Spanish. I couldn’t even excerpt it. All of these newsgathering agencies are shooting themselves in the foot by not making their material more accessible.

But in any case, this is apparently the current AQ demand.

As long as our local AQ sympathizer is in charge, I’d say we’re not safe anywhere.

“one of them being the blind sheik, Abdul Rahmann”

I called it [at least the mention of the blind shiek]:

Let’s see, Obama response: “Duuuh... let’s send them weapons and release the blind shiek!”

And to think that some Freepers were criticizing others as being nutcases for saying that AQ was going to demand the blind sheik ... Which they have apparently done.

I was one of those attacked as stupid yeasterday when I said they would ask for the Sheikh. I wish I would have been wrong. LOL

I will go one step farther and say it should be really soon that Obama and Ms Clintoon will be releasing the Sheikh. They will play the heartstrings of the American people.

The American taxpayers have spent thousand$ on the upkeep of that marble-eyed mullah. Mayo Clinic. Most of us could not afford treatment there. But he is a “ward of the state.” Me? I say put him down, like the rabid cur he is...

The release of the blind sheik was the purpose of the attempted kidnapping of the American Ambassador in Lybia. I personally think it was set up and approved by the US but two patriotic ex soldiers got involved and messed it up for Obama’s plans.

I suspect that if you dig deep enough you will find Clinton and Obama fingerprints on this operation too.

The excuses for the O admin are already emerging. The Algerian govt won’t communicate with them. O is getting better info from the terrorists. The US just knows nothin’. It is all their fault.

Earlier the US reported there was a drone over there, but alas, the info was worthless. shucks!

Yes, probably. Interesting that they are looking for somebody who’s actually off the radar for us now (she got convicted and sent away, but she wasn’t really a big news focus even at the time).

I don’t think Benghazi was necessarily set up in advance (although there was probably some suspicion or fear, at least locally on the part of the staff, that something might happen), but I think when it happened, the decision was made to tolerate it and just consider the deaths of the ambassador and his aide to be “bumps in the road.”

But you’re right. Obama went to bed and probably gave orders that he shouldn’t be disturbed once he knew that the place was destroyed and the ambassador was probably dead, not expecting two honest Americans to come in to attempt to protect both American lives and American property. They messed up his scenario, whatever it was, and that’s why Hillary had to hit her head, other people had to disappear, etc.

The blind sheik was no doubt one of the objectives of the attackers, however, because the Egyptians who rioted earlier that day had also been demanding his release.

According to a couple of AQ members who were captured fleeing from the French, there were at least 2 Egyptians in the multi-national AQ group that attacked the gas refinery. I think there was only one actual Algerian.

AQIM (AQ in the Islamic Mahgreb), the group that attacked the refinery, has been active throughout that area and was certainly involved in the Benghazi incident. They are multinational and some of their members are Egyptians.

I would not be in the least surprised if Obama releases the blind sheik to them as a “gesture of goodwill.”

If Obama releases the sheik we will absolutely know that someone in the ME has the goods on Obama and Benghazi.

Good point. I’d never thought of it that way before, but it could be a blackmail situation.

My only question is whether Americans would even care.
