Missouri House Proposes Jail Time for Feds Violating the 2nd Amendment (Don't tread on Missouri)

Missouri conservatives proposed a bill that will punish feds violating the Second Amendment with jail time. The Tenth Amendment Center reported:

Introduced by Missouri State Representative Casey Guernsey, with 61 co-sponsors, is the Missouri 2nd Amendment Preservation Act. House Bill 170 (HB170) would nullify any and all federal acts, orders, laws, statutes, rules, or regulations of the federal government on personal firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition.

The bill states, in part:

“Any official, agent, or employee of the federal government who enforces or attempts to enforce any act, order, law, statute, rule, or regulation of the federal government upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in the state of Missouri and that remains exclusively within the borders of the state of Missouri shall be guilty of a class D felony.”

A class D felony in Missouri carries a prison sentence of up to 4 years.

While a number of states, including Wyoming, South Carolina, Indiana, and others – are looking to go head to head with the feds on specific issues under the 2nd amendment, the Missouri legislation is the strongest introduced anywhere in the country so far.

Looks like Missouri is a leader for once! They are going to try to make it a class D felony for the federal government to enforce any gun ban legislation in our state. Woo hoo! Hope it passes!

Nullification.
Good to see it being used in one form or another.

Meanwhile in the Federal Senate, Claire McCaskill (Democrat Missouri) will be helping Obama push through his gun grabs.

Just another day in Obamaland. :)

Landmark if it does. One of the reasons I no longer regard Bobby Jindal as a serious contender is how supine he was when federal inactivity and obstruction hindered his efforts to control the BP oil spill. He complained. Often and stridently, but that was all. A state official who will not protect state citizens because he is intimidated by federal bureaucracies may have uses, but key leadership is not among them, and that was the perfect opportunity.

This move in Missouri is encouraging. The Beast on the Potomac needs a muzzle, or it will devour us all.

I can’t wait to see how McCaskill votes on Barbara Boxer’s bill. I warned everyone that I know that she is a gun grabber in sheep’s clothing.

There are about a dozen Michigan legislators proposing a Michigan guns law that says guns made and owned in Michigan wouldn’t be subject to federal regulation.

The states are our last line of defense.

It’s good to see!

Now, lets see if: a) it passes and b) if they can override the inevitable veto!

Obama really put the flyover country democrats in a bind. Even Al Franken is all wishy washy over it and says he supports a ban “in principle” but sounds unlike to support one in reality.

We wouldn’t have that problem if we hadn’t been foolish enough to ratify the 17th Amendment.

Repealing that bit of progressive stupidity should be a long term GOP goal. Its ridiculous that so many conservative leaning states have liberal senators who have zero interest in representing their states.
