Bullied teen and cheerleader to return to the school where classmates formed KKK 'Kill Katie Klub'

Bullied former cheerleader Katie Uffens will next week return to the school where classmates tormented the 16-year-old and formed a 'Kill Kate Klub', named KKK.

The teenager dropped out of Westview High School in San Diego, California, last September, after the bullies threatened to kill her, harassed her family and taunted her online.

One of her classmates who was arrested for allegedly creating the KKK group, Nick Aguiree, was never charged.

Miss Uffens then accused the school's principal for covering it up and created an anti-bullying website 'You Matter', to help teens who have faced similar ordeals, while she was being home schooled.

But on January 23rd, Katie will be back in her former classroom and wants to return to her cheerleading team too.

'I'm scared. The staff didn't stand behind me. The group that called themselves the 'Kill Kate Klub' is still there. But I have the right to live my life, so I'm going back', she told ABC 10News.

'I don't care what people say about me anymore. I know there's rumors and lies and gossip. I deserve to have what I had to leave behind.'

'There's some point where I'm going to have to say, you know what? You're not going to get me down anymore', she added.

When Katie dropped out of school four months ago, she told KGTV: 'I didn't know if it was a joke or they were really trying to kill me.'

Her mother, Giselle Uffens, a former Mrs. California, asked the school administration for help and appealed to the San Diego police, who at first declined to press charges, citing lack of evidence.

What could he do that (e.g.) the mother couldn’t do just as well? If this is a job just for the father, you’re implying physical violence. That violence would be directed against high school students — likely mostly female students.

The only thing that would come from that is a long, long jail term for the father. Now, Katie is left without a father in her life.

If there were some immediate threat of physical (as opposed to psychological) abuse — then I’d agree with you completely. Otherwise, this is a job for the police. The mother is as capable as the father of getting the authorities involved.

Wrong on SO many fronts.

Moms are absolutely capable of getting involved and SHOULD. On that, we agree. My ex- was never the type to back away from such things, either.

I didn’t say a word about physical violence. It’s not about “physical violence”.

Let me put it this way. 5’-nothin’ mama comes to the school and is pissed.....she’ll get attention but no sense of urgency. Dad marches in pissed as hell.....trust me, he WILL get seen, he WILL get a meeting and immediately.

It’s a cultural difference so don’t shoot the messenger. It works, it’s real, and too many are too timid or cowed by “the system” (God only knows why.....still afraid of the principal or something?).

If you can’t step up and protect your own kids, you’re worthless as a parent. If you think that is something to sub out to the school or others.....forget it. Turn in your parental credentials; you don’t deserve them (the generic “you”...not aimed at YOU personally).

You say a "five nothing momma" wouldn't get a meeting, but a "pissed as hell" man would get immediate attention. I suggest you're right, he would get plenty of immediate attention -- from the police called in by the principal. You say "it's not about physical violence", yet physical intimidation is the only thing that you seem to believe will work (something the 5'0" mom can't do). That is simply not the way to deal with school officials.

I have. It worked. It works. I didn’t threaten anyone...and I’m only 5’8”, but at the time went nearly 200 lbs. from lifting weights 5 days a week. I didn’t even yell; didn’t even raise my voice.

No cops were called, nor were they necessary....but by God I was going to be heard. I was.

It’s CULTURAL. Get over it.
