A four day hostage crisis ended Saturday in a final assault by Algerian special forces on a group of Islamic terrorists who were holed up, along with dozens of hostages, in a gas facility in the country.
The forces stormed the complex resulting in the deaths of at least 19 hostages and 29 Islamist terrorists.
The Niger terrorist believed to lead the al-Qaeda splinter group, Abdul Rahman al-Nigeri, is reported...among those killed.

Yes but Scott Pelley of CBS with a beaming smile reported the Americans were rescued safe and sound earlier this week. Hooray Obama! Tonight’s CBS weekend anchor might make quick vague mention about Algerian forces having mounted a rescue operation that killed all the terrorists and that no hostages are known to have been killed by the rescuers at which point the story becomes old news.

Note ~ gas plant ~ with the natural gas discoveries in the United States and elsewhere (due to deep well frakking technology) this facility is of declining importance to us, or anybody else in the West. It remains of vital interest to Algerians ~ and they've just shown they'll take no prisoners in protecting whatever declining value there is in Algerian gas production.
The situation here is that the Left has tried to thwart further natural gas development outside of North Africa and the Middle East so that their allies in AlQaida can continue to be a threat.
It is truly tragic that so many innocent people lost their lives in this incident.
However, also notice that Algeria kept going until every terrorist was killed. That sounds like a message to those considering any future attacks.

The Algerians faced an incredibly barbaric Islamist revolt for about 9 years. The villains were so brutal that they were about at the Red Khmer level of insanity. One of their favorite japes was to ride into a village, round up all the villagers, men, women and children, and decapitate them all.
Then they would ride to the next village.
The typical Algerian was all in favor of the government wiping out these monsters, and the government learned a few lessons.
While saving hostages is nice, the first priority is to kill every single terrorist. No quarter.
Those who support terrorists in any way are terrorists, even if they never do any terrorism themselves. So they get the same treatment. This applies to instigators, like Imams, suppliers, and those who cooperate with terrorists.
After their war, the government pretty well wiped out any vestige of that particular terrorist organization in the entire country. They do not want another to take its place.
My understanding is lots of folks from middle east are getting liscensed to drive school buses and getting jobs in school cafeterias and janotorial school jobs..I suspect when those cells activate...Sandy Hook affioncionados will wish we had some armed people on the inside to combat the terror they have in mind....

You’re right, the gas field is partially state owned. Algeria was protecting their investment. Foreign workers are easily replaceable as far as Algeria is concerned.
There was a warning of this attack two months ago, it wasn’t exactly a surprise. It is my guess that Obama told the French to take care of Al Qaeda because Algeria and Mali were once French colonies and Obama didn’t want to tangle with Al Qaeda before the inauguration because he had been denying the resurgence of Al Qaeda since the killing of Bin Laden. He wasn’t about to allow them to draw him back into a battle.

If it were lower case with two ‘g’s, yes. On the other hand, the term “nigardly” was once considered racist when a conservative used it. So since A7 is right of center, it must have been racism.
I fear that the next attack will be like the one you describe but simultaneous attacks with many other schools. Perhaps sporting events.
The government then did not much for a year except keep outlawing the FIS (which was then winning elections as an islamic muslim brotherhood style party). The FIS was so popular that it even killed its own voters and they felt they were not good muslims and let themselves be killed.
Then someone smarted up, the government started cracking down on them after Euro-French outrage and letting villagers arm themselves with shotguns. After that this stuff stopped.
We are doing the opposite right now in the US, building up a similar radicalization of the liberals and outlawing of firearm ownership. Watch the child welfare politician seducers turn the little gay men of our nations into KhmerRouges of some sort.
