Mental Health Alert: Under the legislation, mental health professionals will be required to report to local mental health officials when there is reason to believe a patient is likely to engage in conduct that will cause serious harm to themselves or others. This information will then be crosschecked against the new comprehensive, and regularly updated, gun registration database. If the patient possesses a gun, the license will be suspended and law enforcement will be authorized to remove the person's firearm.

"Unintended" consequences: The obvious outcome will be that firearms owners will be reluctant to seek mental health counseling, since that will make their Second Amendment rights subject to the good will of a hostile state government. The results will be unfortunate, but they will provide more fodder for far left extremists who consider another mass murder a small price to pay for progress toward absolute government power over the little people.

Certainly hope New Yorkers will mount a challenge to this law.

I left Rochester, New York in 2000.

I celebrate this, every single day.

New York can burn.

New York will ban any weapon without a magazine, as well as any magazine capable of containing a round.

Wow! Pretty much makes revolvers, breakopen shotguns, single shots, etc. illegal, doesn't it? Adding the "any magazine capable of containing a round" makes the rest of them illegal, too!

will give New York State the power to keep guns out of the hands of potential, felons and/or, potentially dangerous “mental health patients”

Note the words “potentially dangerous.” Also note that this law will keep guns out of the hands of “Potential felons” etc...

Potential huh?

How about the REAL felons and criminals out there? Oh, I forgot, they have the ACLU and their rights protected.

This is really like the Soviet Union back in the communist days where the certify anyone that is a political enemy (or potential political eneny) as mentally defective and they are incarcerated in a mental institution for the rest of their life or until they become good communists (Democrats).

The state of New York and the city of New York are a blistering boil on the butt of America.

From the Safe Act:

“Using or carrying a firearm during drug trafficking or a violent felony will include a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence if the gun is loaded and a 3½ year mandatory minimum if unloaded. (The Court could impose a lower sentence in drug trafficking cases depending on mitigating factors).”

If they were serious about solving the “gang bangers” or the criminal element and gun violence the penalty would be life without parole.

The government needs these criminals on the street to justify the bloated government, departments of police and judges. They need criminals on the street or the penalty’s would be more severe!
