Susan Eisenhower Takes Aim at the NRA
American Thinker ^ | January 20, 2013 | Tom Roberson

Posted on 01/20/2013 12:56:21 PM PST by jazusamo

Susan Eisenhower recently took umbrage at the NRA's recent ad pointing out the hypocrisy of Obama having armed guards protecting his family while pushing gun control on America.

Ms. Eisenhower points out correctly that President Obama's family requires Secret Service protection due to the high profile of his office. In today's world, there is no shortage of terrorists, lunatics, fanatics, and just plain aggrieved who would relish the opportunity to visit evil upon the leader of the free world in pursuit of their twisted priorities. She also points out that, having been the recipient of Secret Service protection as a child, she brings a unique perspective to this debate. Ms. Eisenhower criticizes the NRA ad as disgusting because it singles out the president's family when their high profile makes them an exception.

I disagree that the NRA ad in question is over the top or disgusting. Yes, as a high profile leader, President Obama and his family do face a greater threat than the ordinary American and thus Secret Service protection is warranted. Neither the NRA ad nor I dispute this requirement. However, they face threats which are just as undefined to them as to any other American seeking to protect his home and family. The only difference is that the threat to them is recognized and proper steps are taken to protect them. All we Americans are asking is the right to recognize that we should be allowed to protect ourselves from existing threats.

In today's world, there is no shortage of terrorists, lunatics, fanatics, and just plain aggrieved who would relish the opportunity to visit evil upon the leader of the free world in pursuit of their twisted priorities.

Once upon a time, President Bush drew a line in the sand and said you stand with us or the terrorists.

A lying treasonous a-hole named John F. Kerry said that we would have to learn to accept a certain "nuisance" level of terrorism in the world.

Bush's successor, President Obama ended the "War on Terror" and said that we must find peaceful ways of dealing with the terrorists (like negotiating with the Tally-ban). He falsely proclaimed "mission accomplished" in a speech to the United Nations and said that Al Qaida was on the run, it's influence dwindling.

So why must we "accept" the deaths caused by the Islamic supremacists with "twisted priorities" but all American gun owners are "suspect" of plotting rampage shootings because of a handful of isolated lone wolf attacks by publicity seeking losers?

This administration LIES. They don't like Americans. Obama has a hard on for Islamic theocracy.

I personally think that given the degree to which our leaders are out of synch with the consent of the people that it would do them well to have to provide their own security for a change especially those like the President that see no limit to their ability to interfere with my liberty to defend myself against harm using my choice of firearms. The world is not entirely safe for anyone. It is time I believe the “leaders” have to live in the same world and face the same risks as do we all.

That said the GOP who fall into the trap of critizing the NRA on this are just fools. The point the NRA was making was clear and valid and its something the average voter not only understands but would accept as truth. Those in Washington including the GOP live in a cloistered world. The layman unstands this instinctively and I think the GOP would benefit if they learned to flip the switch in these layman citizens heads to trigger the resentment and disgust that is deserved towards those who work and live in marble halls arrogently denying us the right to protect our children and families while we tax payers are paying a premium to protect theirs while they play world traveler at our expense.

Agreed...The “I, Me, My” president has always only been about himself, he expects all the little people to do what he tells them to do. He also knows we will not do that as long as we’re armed the way we are.

The NRA should have been more clear that they were referring to the armed security provided by the school for the regular students. They still have time to set the record straight.

And the terrorists, lunatics, fanatics, and just plain aggrieved who would relish the opportunity to visit evil upon my family is lower on the priority list to the point where ***** like you think I shouldn’t be able to defend myself and them too?

The leftist media is really clawing its way down to the bottom of the barrel to find gun control advocates with iconic names to further their cause.

Next thing you know the slavering presstitutes will ring MY doorbell to ask mMY opinion on the NRA......just because my middle name is that of a late, long-time famous and much revered pro football coach.

This Eisenhower dame is just another soft, spoiled, air-headed dupe. At least Ike knew who the enemy was.

We’ll never put a man on the moon and bring him back or put an end to all Islamist terrorist attacks on US interests until there is a will and a resolve to do so.

Even with the new gun laws, rampage shootings will continue because the criminally insane are permitted to walk around without a legal guardian.

So her claim is that the armed guards at the school would be fired if the president’s children stopped attending.

Airplanes were soft targets in the pre-9/11 world.

Schools have continued to remain soft targets for Islamic terrorists even in the wake of HUNDREDS dead at the Beslan massacre.

And there is no will to stop the terrorists from attacking even when it (repeatedly now) occurs on US soil.

Barack Obama’s guards are there to protect his daughters and NO ONE else.

He doesn’t send his kids to public school.

I’ve also heard that students who were attending their school on vouchers and that was ended. Have to keep the riff raff out.

It’s good to be the king.

It’s called the Second Amendment,Susie. It addresses an issue that the Founding fathers thought to be at least a bit less important to those addressed in the First, but more important than those addressed in the other eight.Call for the Second Amendment to be repealed if you wish, honey. The First Amendment gives you that right.Otherwise,STFU!

We probably have more threats overall, just not higher profile threats.
