Senate Democrats plan to draft a budget blueprint that calls for significantly higher taxes on the wealthy, oil and gas companies and corporations doing business overseas, reopening a battle over taxes Republicans had hoped to lay to rest with the fiscal cliff.
For nearly four years, Senate leaders have ducked their legal duty to craft a comprehensive budget framework. Now, however, Democrats see the budget process as a great opportunity to pursue additional tax increases and to create a fast-track process to push them through the Senate, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Sunday on NBCs Meet the Press.

Oh another opportunity for the GOP to lose.
Even if the democrats aren’t going to do this, we should be hammering them on the possibility. Why else would they not want to cut spending? Because they are just going to give California to China.
For four years, a highly compliant press (AKA MSM) has ignored the Senates illegal action.
This is a false boast. Start counting democrats in swing states and watch the cockroaches scurry.
Oops, posted to the wrong thread.
According to Article I, Section 7 of the US Constitution, “All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives ...”
Thus, unless Boehner and the Republicans go along with the Senate Democrats’ tax raising scheme, the Senate will not be able to raise taxes.
They also are trying to draw attention from the fact that the House has finally succeeded in getting them to submit a budget after 3 years.
like ubamayourmama healthcare?????
They already have in the past. The cliff bill started in the senate.
So did Obamacare.
Taxing success, to re-distribute wealth to their parasite voter base, and ignorant women who think "Reproductive Rights" are ONLY their concern, and RINO's will vote with Dem's.
In the Senate, the Fillibuster will be removed from the Rules, and EXACTLY what the Progressives want will be Passed, just as Obamacare, Debt Ceiling increases ad infinitum, and MORE Union and Welfare Handouts will keep on growing.....COUNT ON IT.
I don't think the Senate can pass a budget on that basis. Democrat Senators have Oil/Gas in their states as well as multi-natonal companies.
Go ahead, Chuckie...
In 2014, 32 senators up for reelection: 20 D and 13 R. Rockefeller is retiring in VA, so 21 D really in play. Huge R advantage this cycle.
12 of the 20 D seats come from a state that is red or swing: AK, AR, CO, IA, LA, MT, SD, MN, NH, NC, WV and VA. Those seats are vulnerable should the GOP run strong candidates (a BIG if, however).
All R seats are from solidly Red states except Collins — and she really isn’t an “R” anyway.
I hate to say it, but didn’t they say the same thing about the last election? because we know how well that worked out for the R’s.
*”Because they are just going to give California to China.”
And just how do you think that they are going to do that?
*Dumb statement of the Day!
I saw Cruz debate Schumer this morning on that same NBC MTP show, he is pretty sharp. He even got Gregory to beat on Schumer.
Well of course Senate Dems are going to include new taxes in a budget, this is a surprise?
Boehner bent over for nothing.
He always does. They fool him every time.
By this time his butt should be raw, but in another month and a half he gets it again. BOHICA Boehner.
Before taking on the Ds, the Rs has to be purged of the GOPe in primaries. When the Tea Party IS the GOP, then the GOP will be ready to take on the Ds.
Don't count on it.
If you want to take on the Ds you must beat them in elections, not lose to them..
Replacing Scott Browns with Liz Warrens just makes things worse.
More-so, Bohner’s election was after that Jan 1 tax deal. But you notice not one ‘Tea Party Conservative’ stepped up to the plate to run for Speaker themselves???
Louie Gohmert (TX-01) voted against Bohner so he obviously is not looking for his favors.
But he voted for someone not running, totally irrelevant.
It was Bohner or Pelosi, that was it.
So Lou had a chance to make a case against Bohner by running. Imagine this:
I am running for Speaker Because this House leadership is going in the wrong direction. We were not sent here to keep things running. We were sent here to stop things from running. Elect me and I will act on principle.
No more CRs, no more borrowing money and since the voters demanded tax cuts on the rich by reelecting O then they can pay higher taxes too. We will see how they like their POTUS OBAMA
It would be glorious,
But no, his meaningless symbolic safe ‘no’ votes are all he offers. I dont think they are serious.
