Minority youth are more often arrested and in Washington state’s court system than their white counterparts, according to a recent study.
Minority youth are arrested and in the Washington state court system more often than their white counterparts, a recent study commissioned by the state Supreme Court shows. But researchers said that counties aren’t keeping complete data on ethnicity and that the gap between minority and white youth is larger.
Between 2007 and 2011, African-American youth were nearly 250 percent more likely to be referred to juvenile court for prosecution than their white counterparts. They are followed by Native-American youth, who are 80 percent more likely to be referred. Overall, minority youth are 22 percent more likely to be referred.
To determine the ratio, researchers calculated the number of minority youth in a particular aspect of juvenile law and the overall population of each county.
In arrests, minority youth were nearly 85 percent more likely to be arrested than white youth statewide, the study found. But researchers said that number is likely much higher because counties count Latinos as white in their record keeping. Latino is an ethnicity, not a race.
Sarah Veele, one of the researchers from the Washington State Center for Court Research, said there isn’t a federal or state requirement for local agencies to track ethnicity in their juvenile-arrest data, so Latinos are put in the “white” category.
Researchers looked at eight categories, ranging from arrests to diversion-program enrollments.
Still, about 40 percent of all cases were missing data on whether the youth was Latino and 5 percent of cases had no indicator of race or ethnicity.
“Increasing the quality of data collected by courts is key to fully understanding how and where racial and ethnic inequality arises,” Chief Justice Barbara Madsen said.

As former LEO I can tell you it’s not because they are putting more focus on minority communities. When you answer a call you you are just given a summary that’s input by the dispatcher that appears on your computer screen and the address is listed. You just drive to it and respond to the call. There is no particular race targeted. You just simply get a lot more calls to HUD housing and minority areas because they do commit more crimes. The truth is the truth. Talk to black and Hipanic officers; they’ll tell you the same thing. White trash areas have their moments too but not to the depth of HUD assisted living areas.
Gosh, if we only had a deterrent like midnight basketball or something....
Keep the ferals in jail longer...that will deter their criminal behavior against normal people.
I always wonder if missing Hispanic data is really a cover up for illegal aliens. Too much paperwork and interagency bureaucracy is involved when the arrested is an Hispanic illegal alien.

Certain federally supported school policies would effectively do this at the educational level by reducing racial disparity in disciplinary outcomes.
WA State Supreme Court Justice Sanders lost reelection to the court (4 or 6 years ago) after making the remark “(paraphrasing- The reason more minorities are in jail is because they commit the more crimes.)” He lost again to a real liberal this last November’s election. Seattle liberals will never learn!
There’s a reason for it and it ain’t racism. It’s because they actually commit more crimes and cause more trouble. For any number of reasons. No dad. No dad and no mom. Bad role models. Anger at parents they project onto others. Don’t care about school or their future. Realize they’ve blown their education and being a criminal is their solution. Want to be cool gangsta rappers. Want to be in gangs. Enjoy hurting people. Don’t fear punishment.
Articles like this never note the disproportionately high unemployment rate for young black males which some social scientists would conclude results in a disproportionately high crime rate. Concluding racism better serves the media agenda.

It arises in their criminal minds. These minority thugs see a system ripe for gaming and they pounce upon it. They are the new lazy and want their special treatment. Our enlightened legal system will now give them all the freebies they desire including their get out of jail free cards.
America is dying internally and its spoils are the minorities riches.
Perhaps if they had the same crime rates as white kids the numbers would even out.

It was one degree of danger when the diversity race haters represented a small minority in this country. It’s another thing when they represent a big enough population that whites can’t vote themselves social, political and legal protection from the frothing racists.
Whites are going to have to became a tribe and work with Hispanics against the ghetto minded to survive in places where they are not the majority in this country. If they fail to do that, they are going to be seriously abused by the racists as time marches on.
We need a quota on whites! Sheesh!
