My naked Vegas snaps? A case of too much Army and not enough prince, says Harry

Prince Harry on his controversial Las Vegas trip

There is only one rule as far as the soldier prince is concerned: Work hard, play hard.

In one of the most candid admissions of his interview, Harry remarks that concerned Prince Charles frequently attempts to remind him of what is required of the third in line to the throne.

Harry confesses he ‘let himself and his family down’ after being photographed cavorting naked in Las Vegas last year, but, unsurprisingly given his comments, is largely unrepentant.

The 28-year-old royal concedes he should have acted in a more ‘princely’ manner but says the media should never have published ‘private’ photos of him playing strip billiards with a group of women he had met in his hotel bar.

Like many young men, Harry says he shrugs off his father’s wise words of caution, even if he is heir to the throne. ‘My father’s always trying to remind me about who I am and stuff like that. But it’s very easy to forget about who I am when I am in the Army. Everyone’s wearing the same uniform and doing the same kind of thing,’ he says.

‘I have always said work hard, play hard. I will always be enjoying the job … however long it may carry on for, and then I have the other job to fall back on.’

He adds: ‘Certain people remind me, “Remember who you are, so don’t always drop your guard”. At end of the day I probably let myself down [in Vegas], I let my family down, I let other people down.

‘But I was in a private area and there should be a certain amount of privacy that one should expect. Back at home all my close friends rallied around me and were great.

Charles isn’t his dad.

His dad is an ex-armor Army officer and riding instructor —his biological dad would absolutey have done this.

I’d give him a little bit of a break. Considering some other luminaries of British royalty *cough Henry VIII*, this behavior is pretty tame. Makes the guy more likeable IMHO.

Leave the kid alone. Hell, there isn’t a red-blooded, single American male who would have turned down all the honies throwing their hot, naked bodies at ya so get over it.

"he ‘let himself and his family down’"

Nonsense. You did what you're supposed to do: have fun. I certainly did when I was your age!

"but, unsurprisingly given his comments, is largely unrepentant."

What should he repent?

"he should have acted in a more ‘princely’ manner"

You couldn't have.

"the media should never have published ‘private’ photos of him playing strip billiards with a group of women he had met in his hotel bar."

Nonsense again! What else would you expect them to do? Anyway--that's a small price to pay for all the fun you had.

"‘My father’s always trying to remind me about who I am and stuff like that.'"

Yes. My parents did the same thing.

"Remember who you are, so don’t always drop your guard."

That is a serious criticism. Such behavior could be dangerous.

"But I was in a private area and there should be a certain amount of privacy that one should expect."

That's probably true.

He’s a soldier on R and R. He’s not a tin saint—he’s a real man and as such he is human. In my book this makes him more able to be a king—not less. If he gets the chance England would be lucky to have a man of his experience and worldly ways.

Considering all the history through time of the royal family this was mild. At least he was with other women.

I guess he now knows that the commercial about "what happens in 'Vegas" was just a commercial.

James Hewitt is not Prince Harry's father. The relation between Hewitt and the Princess of Wales did not develop until considerably after Prince Harry was born.

He is the son of the Prince and Princes of Wales. If he was not, it would have had to be made public by now because in a world of DNA testing when paternity can be proven, a situation could not be allowed to develop where there was any possibility of the line of succession being compromised by dishonesty. It would put the entire monarchy at risk, and that puts the entire government of the United Kingdom at risk.

Prince Harry, physically resembles his paternal grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh at the same age.

He gets his hair and other colouring from his mothers side of the family.

Image is Earl Spencer, the Princess' brother.

This ridiculous conspiracy theory is no joke. If Hewitt had fathered a child of the Princess of Wales, he'd be guilty of high treason, which was a capital offence at the time Harry was born (the penalty has since been reduced to life in prison).

After he killed some enemy combatants today which is great for Britain and the United States, I could care less what he does on his vacations. He should get all the fun out of his system now. I think that was a lot of the problems of his father and uncle....no fun before marriage so they wanted to have fun during marriage which is too late.

Well, I don’t approve of such conduct for myself . . . , but I really like the guy, and I can’t really fault him on this one. Honest. Upright. Honorable. Reminds me of an Evelyn Waugh novel. Sow the wild oats, but keep your honor and your basic values.

Completely the opposite of the despicable Prince of Wales.

Who hasn’t played strip billiards with young ladies you just met at a hotel bar in Vegas?

Seriously, he’s at the age when young soldiers are known to be a bit reckless and stupid. Let’s give him a break. At least he was cavorting with girls...
