Dang, I got so excited when I saw "Boehner" and "commits" in the same sentence.
"We can do it in ten years"
"We can do it in nine years"
"We can do it in eight years"
"We can do it in seven years"
Anyone else get deja vu?

Is it raining or is the feckless John Boehner peeing on my leg?
As noble a goal as this might be, unless Obama was serious when he stated he would be working more with Republicans in his second term (ROTFLMAO), a better use of Boehner’s efforts would be to actually come up with a strategy to stop Obama’s leftist agenda.
Considering Paul Ryan’s (publicly panned by liberals and media) budget plan wouldn’t balance the budget until after 2040 — and it failed to receive unanimous Republican support in the House and received NO Democratic support in the Senate — Boehner has declared himself even more insignificant if he is going to waste efforts pushing un-passable bills while passing Continuing (spending) Resolutions and increasing our federal credit limits.

Speaker John Boehner told House Republicans this afternoon that the GOPs upcoming budget will balance the federal books in a decade. This is beyond "kicking the can down the road". - Tom

Conservatives have more votes this term so Boehner has to try harder to keep them happy.
But if he doesn’t get RESULTS that please them he’ll be failing them- and the Party too.

Any bets on nothing happening for the first 5 years? After that it won’t matter.

This 10-year plan charade is total fantasy land.
What are you going to do this year John?

Ten years? Anything past FY2014 doesn't mean anything. Start by spending less in FY2013 than in FY2012 (not below a baseline budget increase) and less in FY2014 than in FY2013. Then you can talk about your FY2015 plans.

Yeah. And this is a bad case of it. Boehner is pretty much saying "We have this plan that can't pass - sure to excite the proles back home!"
Pretty funny when a politician admits his "promise" is bullshit.

There is no 10 year balanced budget. It is a myth. It is a lie. it is either balanced this year or it will not be balanced. The acts of the present Congress cannot bind future Congresses, even if they consist of the same Congressmen. The only way to balance the budget is to reduce the debt limit. Now.

And since Bonehead is promising a balanced budget in ten years from trillion dollar+ deficits now, that means the annual drop has to be $100 billion per year. A plan for a $1 billion cut for nine years with a $991 billion dollar cut in FY2023 is insulting.

I’ve had it with the Republicans. These guys are totally useless.

Never gonna happen. All the while our national debt grows exponentially until we finally get cut off by our foreign creditors.

Oh, wow, this just makes me so happy. In only 10 years we are going to have a balanced budget.
Thanks, Republicans
