Four colleges to cut faculty hours to Part-time status, blames Obamacare

Four public colleges and universities: Florida’s Palm Beach State College, Pennsylvania’s Community College of Allegheny County, Ohio’s Youngstown State University, and New Jersey’s Kean University, are all planning to move adjunct and “contingent” faculty members to part-time status in order to avoid an Obamacare provision requiring businesses with 50 or more full-time employees to provide health coverage for at least 95 percent of their workers.

**SNIP**

Teachers’ associations like AAUP and AFT are bracing for the shift. Next week, AFT will host a webinar for its members addressing “the implications of the Affordable Care Act for contingent faculty.” In the meantime, both organizations are hoping the federal government will require universities to count time spent outside the classroom as part of adjunct faculty’s work hours.

When Odumbo was the so called University Professor he was actually the same type of faculty that are getting cut back to part-time because of The Affordable health Care Act. Affordable for who. This is a misnomer of affordable.

Hey I have 76 year old mother, this year her pension refuses to pay her Medicare premium. Her pension refuses to pay for her medications as it has done since she retired at the age of 65. Opps sorry for the deviation - 50 years as a registered Nurse, the hospital closed and yet even after retirement my mother worked as an Independent nurse for 9 more years.

If they cut the time for adjuncts, then tenured professors would have to spend more time actually teaching in classrooms? Tcha! As if.

“In the meantime, both organizations are hoping the federal government will require universities to count time spent outside the classroom as part of adjunct faculty’s work hours.”

Typical Union ploy, But they will either be able to cut the hours or if that doesn’t fly, just cut the bastards loose. Thanks to FUBOCare, its a win-win!

Just listened to a well-spoken black lady try & complain that the Post Office is laying off too many blacks!!

Rush tried to explain to her—which she sorta agreed with—that a much higher portion of blacks work at the post office than their portion of the total population.

She is now mad that this ‘higher portion’ of blacks is being laid off.

She claimed that the House of Reps, majority being Republicans, are behind the demand for Post Office layoffs.

Try as he could, Rush could not get past her obvious bias.

My final take? “Give me more jobs on a majority-——but don’t you DARE lay off blacks on that same disproportionment.”

The remaining faculty should redistribute their hours and income to the adjunct professors. No?
