‘Universal Background Checks’ – Absolutely Not

-(Ammoland.com)- Imagine a grandfather who wants to give a family shotgun to his 12-year-old grandson having to do a background check on his grandson before giving him the shotgun.

Or a friend having to do a background check on his lifetime best buddy before lending him a hunting rifle.

Or, if your mother had a prowler at her home, having to do a background check on your own Mom before you could give her one of your guns for protection.

That’s what “universal background checks” do. They turn traditional innocent conduct into a criminal offense. They target you, law-abiding gun owners.

Universal background checks are background checks on EVERY transfer, sale, purchase, trade, gift, rental, and loan of a firearm between any and all individuals.

All background checks must be conducted through a federally licensed dealer. (costing hard earned cash) Universal background checks have nothing to do with gun shows – they are about you.

BUT, it would ensure that drug kingpins would have to do background checks before arming their street dealers....

Background checks is not about solving a real problem, it is another symbolic act that allows politicians to say they are doing something, when in fact no significant change will result. It is a way to put some words on paper that will not work, but allow politicians to go on with the business of gridlock.

The Dept. of Justice did a survey of where criminals get their firearms and guess what it found? Less than 2% of the firearms that criminals got were from gun shows and flea markets.

Street/illegal source 39.2 40.8
Friends or family 39.6 33.8
Gun show 0.7 0.6
Flea market 1.0 1.3
Pawnshop 3.8 4.2
Retail store 8.3 14.7
Purchased from – 13.9 20.8
Total 100.0% 100.0%
Source of gun 1997 1991

It is already illegal for someone to give or sell a firearm to a felon. The real source of firearms for criminals is family, fellow gang members and illegal street sources. Those sources are not going to go with the felon down to the local gun story to get a firearm transferred as they know they will go to jail, so they will ignore this nice potentially new law and provide the felon with the firearm he wants.

Much ado about nothing.

And what if the background check showed that the person was an illegal alien?

What comes after this? Background checks to buy a car?
Background checks to buy sissors, knives, razor blades?
I’m sorry maam, your chocolate check has come back
negative. (that could be hazardous to your health)

I’m sorry sir, here at Barnes and Noble we cannot sell
conservative literature without a mental health check...
Have you read Das Kapital? No need for a check for that.

Oh, they don’t just want background checks, they want fingerprints.

I’ve been advocating that in states like WA, where they give drivers’ licenses to illegals that finger prints should be provided in lieu of a legal birth certificate and the left is horrified, but they want to finger print gun owners.

Google and Facebook would both be envious of that database, coupled with the medical database

There is a Movie script here somewhere

They could demand background checks on all US citizens, so the federal govt would know everybody ‘s history and have it in a big database. Not just gun owners. That’s their end game, spying on us.

Universal background checks are just smokescreen for government licensing of all gun possession. Once they have it in place, they will begin restricting the process until it’s all over for the 2nd amendment.

Where do the Oppressive Gun grabbers think they have the Authority to control everyone’s persona l property?

If the petty tyrants can asset control over the people in these instances, what else can they control?

Extend this to a ‘Background’ (health) check before you can buy a cheeseburger.

Maybe a ‘Background’ check before you buy certain books or magazines (high crap capacity or not).

Where would it end?

I believe such a requirement would be met with a not so cheery “Know thyself”...in the biblical sense.

How in the world are they ever going to even know about such scenarios unless you are feckless enough to offer them? While it may be technically correct, I certainly would not even think about a backround check on my grandson. Why the heck would anyone do that?
