PASSIONATE wildlife campaigner Bindi Irwin has gotten into a biff with one of the world's most powerful women.
The 14-year-old has stood her ground after an essay she was invited to write for US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's e-journal was drastically edited before it was to be published.
The young conservationist, daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, was asked to write 800-1000 words on why she had chosen to devote her life's work to wildlife conservation.
The piece was supposed to be published in the December issue titled Go Wild Coming Together for Conservation as part of Secretary Clinton's endangered species initiative.
But after writing exactly 1000 words urging society to address overpopulation, the former first lady's department returned it for final approval with most of it edited out.
Terri Irwin, who is raising Bindi and her nine-year-old brother Robert at their Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast, said her daughter was less than impressed with the response from the US State Department.
"It's interesting that she was asked to write an essay about the environment and included the consideration of population (growth) and they returned her essay edited and completely edited that out," she said.
"So Bindi wrote to Hillary Clinton's organisation and said 'what happened to freedom of speech? This is my opinion and I don't want that edited out'."
Secretary Clinton's department then told Bindi there was not enough time for her to do a re-write, which the Queensland teen refused to do anyway.
"Bindi just respectfully said that she's not willing to go with the edited version of the story," a zoo spokeswoman said.

What a shame that such a pretty girl has been brainwashed into thinking the world is overpopulated. Why dosen’t she openly advertise for contraception, abortion, & euthanasia, because, really, that IS what she’s saying.....in a roundabout way.
Maybe we should have had Bindi questioning Hillary! today. She wouldn’t have kissed her butt!!
They are both Misanthropes that believe in Eugenics there should be plenty of agreement there.
I’ve read the essay - and she does explicitly argue for ‘family planning’ and women having the ability to limit their families. But I don’t think that’s the issue here. I think it’s one of freedom of speech and her standing up for her right to do that, whether you, I, or Hilary Clinton agrees with her.
Speaking as a teacher, the essay would get a B if submitted in one of my classes as an argumentative essay from a girl her age - that’s got nothing to do with whether I agree with it or not, I don’t impose my views on my students, but with the quality of writing and the way the point is made.
The question is why would Hillary censor it. It isn’t like it is a heretical opinion on the left.
Hillary mixed up the editing with the Benghazi murders.
They wanted a puff piece from the cute little daughter of Steve Irwin. Nothing more.
If 14 year olds start thinking, where would they be?
“The question is why would Hillary censor it. It isnt like it is a heretical opinion on the left.”
Exactly. It’s not like their thoughts on the dignity of human life differ all that much.
Abortion is a big vote block magnet for liberals. Anyone pushing population control should get a back stage pass to their tent.
Good little Nazi youth girl.
Wow how much she has grown, now I feel old LOL
I don’t believe it is possible to have human overpopulation - of a certain type.
Anyone that can pay at least 75% of the upkeep on a kid, should have as many as they want!
On the other hand, those that simply produce kids and then dump them in societies lap and say, “you take care of this, and oh by the way, pay me as well” are already severely overpopulated!
(Why 75%? Even when I was growing up in the 50s-60s, society paid some part of a kids upbringing. Besides, if everyone could take care of 75% of the cost, the welfare cost would drop dramatically!)
Roger that. Too bad her mom instilled such mis-guided thought processes in her. She is beyond recovery now that she has been completely indoctrinated in this way of thinking. Radical left wing extremists strike again. Unfortunately many young girls look up to her. She’s lucky hildebeast wasn’t within slapping range.
Bindi seems to have a kangaroo in her mental billibong...
and is Waltzing her Matida to democrat RAP music..
Poor Kid.. brain washed already..
they wanted her name... not her opinion.
thats how fascists work
The 1st Ammendment of the U.S. Constitution doesn’t protect the free speech of Australian children.
However, this is so typical Clinton/left behaviour to censor other people’s opinions even if they asked for them!
leftists do not like the idea of freedom of thought
Certain parts (China, India, etc.) of the world are indeed overpopulated.
IMHO, Hillary had to. How else could they convince Americans to let 12+ million illegal immigrants stay here? How else would they get away with looking the other way while thirty million more come across the border in the next five to ten years? How else could they get away with sending more of our tax dollars to Africa to feed African children? How could they get away with letting people like Terry Turnage (he has 21 children by 15 women) and Desmond Hatchett (who has thirty children by 11 women) have children they can't pay for? We're talking about cutting into funds politicians can funnel into their pockets, and cutting their future voters.
I think humans are overpopulating the Earth, but, I sure as h&!! don't want to see a repeat of the 1970's. Back then there was a push for zero population growth but the only people who limited their children were those who should have had the most. The poor around the World kept having lots of children. Children they couldn't feed, so we who limited our offspring are forced to feed children who are not ours. It's unconscionable to force those who limited their children into taking care of the offspring of those with whom we disagree. We are being forced to care for children who will one day vote to take more from us and our children. Had I wanted to pay higher taxes for schools, parks..., I'd have had more of my own children to use them.
