SOUP FOR THE TROOPS

WELCOME TO THE

(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)

Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities
Another nice visit with the troops.
God bless 'em all.

DC METROLAND WEATHER

Peeks of sunshine later. High 31F.
Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%.

In southern France, some people burn a log in their homes
from Christmas Eve until New Year’s Day.
This stems from an ancient tradition in which farmers
would use part of the log to ensure
a plentiful harvest the following year.

The nickname "Tinsel Town" was coined by Oscar Levant,
the pianist, composer who observed:
"Strip the phoney tinsel off Hollywood,
and you'll find the real tinsel underneath.

The practice of naming hurricanes began early this century
when an Australian weather forecaster decided to insult politicians
he didn't like by naming devastating tropical storms after them.

The British idiom “off one’s chump” means “crazy.”

It was still snowing lightly at the beachy homestead,
but I think it was on its way out.
Roads were in good shape. The ride in was uneventful.
Some school closings; mostly delays.

Looking like we'll get a one-two punch out of this storm.
We very seldom get a significant snowfall
when the system comes from the north.
So I'm not too worried.

The FR Canteen is ALWAYS

Please stay right where you are.
Keep the troops entertained and the Canteen clean...

ok, truly weird.

I hit the post button, got the swirly, then the dreaded time out message...decided to open another tab and check to see if it really didn’t post...and here it is.

Woo Hoo I avoided double morning post.

(high five with myself...hehe)

Good morning beachy and (((HUGS))). We are headed for close to a record high today. Hope it doesn’t fool the trees to put on new leaves already and then get a freeze in a few weeks.

Good morning EG ((HUGS))

All is well. Getting ready to get back to some of the work before people start knocking on my door. Started snowing again here at work.

Howz things out your way?

Good morning dear ((HUGS))

What? In the 80s? Yeah that’s a little high for winter but I wouldn’t mind a little of it over this way.

You know something is wrong when Ma can be 23 degrees in the middle of the night when my area is 17 degrees at 8 a.m.

Good morning, Beachy!

*HUGS*

Happy Thursday! A rather arduous commute in to the office this morning - roads in my area were not in very good condition.

We had some really nice weather yesterday. It did get up to near 70. Bo and I had some fun out at the lake.

Today, it feels cloudy and cool. May get some light rain today.

Good morning CMN ((HUGS))

Happy Thursday!

Did you have to drive today?

I’m sure your area got more snow than we did. I’m on southern tip.

Roads in Charles County were worse than those in PG going up 210. I’ve noticed this the last few snow events we’ve had.
