Lego accused of racism with Star Wars set {by Muslims}

Lego has been accused of racism by the Turkish community over a Star Wars model that supposedly resembles one of Istanbul’s most revered mosques.

tria’s Turkish community said the model was based on Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul and that the accompanying figures depicted Asians and Orientals as people with “deceitful and criminal personalities.”

The Turkish Cultural Community of Austria released a statement calling for Lego to apologise for affronting religious and cultural feelings.

The anger was provoked by “Jabba’s Palace”, a model of the home of Jabba the Hutt from Lego’s Star Wars product range based on the blockbusting series of science fiction films

Why, after 35 years, scream racism now?

Because, the "mosque" in Istanbul (which use to be Constantinople) was a Christian church before the invading Muslims converted it to a mosque. Under Ataturk - when Turkey was a modern secular nation - it was coverted to a museum.

Now that Turkey is again ruled by Islamists, while "officially" the building remains a museum, its re-Islamization appears to be beginning.

Speaking of offensive pieces of crap, whatever happened the the NYCity mosque that they wanted to build on (or right next to) the 9-11 site?

Yes it is beautiful, but it is not a mosque, it is a basilica (church) and it was built by the Romans of the Eastern Roman empire, who later became known as the Byzantines.

After Mehmed II's conquest of the city in 1453, Hagia Sophia was converted to a mosque

Two items. One, the Lego model doesn't look anything like Hagia Sophia mosque. I know because I've been there. Two, Hagia Sophia mosque was a Christian church long before the Ottomans.

I wish I could remember how to say eat sh#t and die in Turkish.
