Secretary of state nominee John Kerry and his wife Teresa Heinz Kerry will divest from their holdings in dozens of companies if he is confirmed to the Obama administration post, the Massachusetts senator said in a letter this month.

As Kerry prepares to go before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee -- which he chairs -- for his confirmation hearing on Thursday, he's signaling that he will work to avoid conflicts of interest linked to the sizeable investments that he in companies including Suncor and Cenovus Energy Inc., both of which would benefit from the State Department's approval of TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline

Window dressing...pure bullchit. If this were a republican they would be ripped a new one from here to Canada even if they too wanted to “divest” their financial interests.

When I run this through the beltway translator, it comes out:

"Kerry says he won't take an allowance from wife for the next 4 years."

Has Kerry ever paid his Mass. State Sales tax on the sailboat he harbors in Rhode island to evade Mass. state taxes ?

The only thing Kerry can do is give it all away to the poor and take up the wearing of a single sheet of cloth. He can keep shoes but no Ho Chi Minh sandles no matter how much he cries.

The closer he gets to Ghandi the better for all of us ~ and that woman of his too ~ down to a single sheet~!

They can live on his salary.

He was always hailed as an idealist by the leftwingtards ~ now, let their boy show his idealism.

While John Kerry served on the Senate POW/MIA committee he manipulated events to benefit Colliers International with a $1 billion construction contract in Vietnam. Stewart Forbes, Kerry’s first cousin, was CEO of Colliers at the time. Kerry also pocketed $3 million profit in stock trades by using inside information he gained on the Senate Health Committee. The guy is a crook who will easily find ways to enrich himself as secretary of state.

In political circles of course “divesting” is short for “’sell’ it all to a cousin for $100 who will do with it exactly what I say and ‘sell’ it all back for $150 when I leave this job”.

JFnK should have Jon Corzine take care of his finances while he's avoiding conflicts.

Jon's good with other people's money.

John Kerry lied under oath when he accused our troops of "committing daily atrocities with the full knowledge and consent of their commanding officers".

He should have been tried for treason and he should be rotting in a cell, not being rewarded with a sham consent discussion in our embarrassment called the senate.
